The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is scheduled to visit the Ga State on Sunday, June 9, 2024. This historic visit will culminate in a special durbar hosted by the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, at the forecourt of his palace.

Henry Nana Boakye Writes: NDC’s LIES EXPOSED
My attention has been drawn to a statement by NDC’s National Communication officer claiming that the judge in the ambulance trial has directed the Attorney General, Godfred Dame, “to stay away from the trial on grounds of professional and prosecutorial misconduct”.

Some scenes after the court proceedings
This statement is blatant falsehood and a complete misrepresentation of what transpired in court today. As a matter of fact, the court dismissed all the four applications filed by Dr Ato Forson and Richard Jakpa seeking to truncate the criminal trial and an order of inquiry into the conduct of the AG.
The court said there was no legal ground for any of the applications by the two accused persons. Obviously, disappointed by the ruling, The NDC is only seeking to mislead and deceive the public once again.
The learned judge only advised the AG that in view of all that had happened, she would advise him not to personally conduct the matter but rather allow the other attorneys of the Office of the Attorney-General to continue with the trial. The judge actually clarified after the ruling that she never ordered the Attorney-General not to continue handling the matter.
On the issue of the admission of the secretly recorded telephone conversation, the court stated that the admission of the tape has no bearing on the weight to be placed on it.
In the circumstances of this case, the judge said that the tape was not relevant as the conversation did not show that the Attorney-General asked Richard Jakpa to help him make his case.
She said she had listened to the tape 10 times and did not hear the Attorney-General say those words. On the contrary, those words came from Richard Jakpa himself.

Opinion
Ghana began its Democratic Governance in 1992 and has brought five(5) Vice Presidents, which makes Dr Mahamudu Bawumia the 5th Vice President of the Republic of Ghana.
The Vice President has had a track record of just being the second in command after the President and always relying on the achievements of the President and Government without having any national policy or program attributed to the Vice President. H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has shown to be a record breaker of having many policies and programs to his credit and vice president of the Republic of Ghana.
The vice president has many achievements to himself aside from the general government policies and programs.

Today, many Ghanaians are saved from the stress of queuing in long queues just to transfer mobile money from their network to different networks, today an MTN user can send mobile money to any other network through his or her MTN network same as other network users can also do.
The Ghana card identification for all Ghanaians is one great achievement the Vice President can always boast of. Getting access to medical products to hospital for patients has become so easy through the introduction of the Zipline drones, which transport these to hospitals at a speed to avoid any reliance.
Agenda 111, which seeks to build hundred and eleven(111) hospitals in districts across the country.
This has made access to medical attention easier than the old ways of travelling for long to seek medical attention.
The Zongo development fund has lifted the face of Zongo communities with many facilities and developmental projects.
The Go Taxi Ride program is also an intervention from the Vice President, which has tackled and slowed the unemployment rate by providing affordable vehicles to many Ghanaians who use them for commercial purposes.
The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana has shown to be up to task and trustworthy.
I plead with Ghanaian youth to have faith in him and hand over the steering wheel of this country into his hands as he has only pleaded for.
I am confident that he will deliver and make Ghana prosperous.

Be patient with govt, all deplorable roads will be fixed – Roads & Highways Minister assures
Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister of Roads and Highways, has assured residents of the Greater Accra Region that all deplorable roads in the capital will be repaired.
He said the government was aware of the poor nature of several roads in the region, particularly due to recent downpours, and had taken steps to improve them.
“The Ministry is committed to fixing these deplorable roads, especially in the densely populated Accra,” said the minister.
The Minister made the pledge during a tour of the ongoing road and drainage projects in some municipalities in the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday.
He inspected the Tuba Junction, the main Fulani-Ajassco Factory, Aplaku-Red Top, and Black Factory to Otintoh roads in the Ga South Municipality, the ‘borla’ road in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality, the Pentecost University, Auntie Aku, Adu Gyamfi, and Israel roads in Anyaa-Sowutuom in the Ga Central Municipality, and an ongoing asphalt overlay project in Okwaikwei North and South.

The Minister also inspected ongoing works on the 50-meter bridge on the Densu River to link Old Weija to New Weija.
The visit was part of the Minister’s nationwide tour to obtain first-hand information on the country’s road conditions and the progress of work on some ongoing projects.
He was accompanied by Mr Titus Glover, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Abass Awolu, Chief Director of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, as well as directors and engineers of the Ghana Highway Authority and the Ministry, among others.
Mr Asenso-Boakye, who lauded the government’s achievements in the road sector, stressed that the current administration had invested more resources in building the country’s road network than any other government.
He urged Ghanaians to remain patient as the administration worked to improve the country’s road networks.
Have patience for the NPP government. We love you very much and so, we have a lot of plans for all Ghanaians, particularly on roads and storm drains,” he remarked.
The Minister noted that previous governments did not invest in storm drain construction, but the NPP government had committed over GH¢300 million since assuming office to guarantee the matter was dealt with.
“So, this government has done a lot when it comes to the construction of storm drains, roads and bridges and deserves commendation. And we are the people who can continue and do more for Ghanaians,” he added.
When asked what the government was doing to address the challenges, Mr Asenso-Boakye said the Ministry was relying on its ongoing Impact Roads Project to repair degraded roads in densely populated areas of the region.
“These are areas that are densely populated, and the Ministry has a project called Impact Roads Project and we want to use the opportunity to fix the bad roads in those communities in Greater Accra,” he said.
Social Deplorable Roads Works on Tuba Junction drains in the Ga-South Municipality
On the construction of a 50-meter bridge on the Densu River at the Weija Dam, the Minister said that a few structures near the construction site continued to obstruct progress.
To ensure that work on the bridge continued uninterrupted, he stated that the government would soon provide fair compensation to the owners of the structures earmarked for demolition, to allow for smooth work.
“Together with the regional minister we’ve been able to make some decisions there and very soon some compensation would be given and then we can demolish those buildings so that we can complete work,” the Minister said.
Madam Adwoa Duku, Regional Director of Urban Roads, briefed the Minister on some of the projects and stated that work was continuing as planned, with most expected to be completed on schedule.
For instance, in the Ga Central Municipality, she said that 11.7 kilometres of the road around Auntie Aku, Fan Milk, and Adu Gyamfi in the Anyaa sowutuom community had been sealed, while some drains on the Israel road had been completed.
Madam Duku said the contractor working on the Israel road had completed some drains, adding that construction of some primary and storm drains was also in progress.
She said rehabilitation work on the 1.6km main Fulani-Ajassco Block Factory Road in the Ga South Municipality was 50 percent complete.
Mr Glover, Greater Accra Regional Minister, stressed the need for timely completion of the bridge on the Densu River at Weija, indicating that it would ease traffic on the main Accra-Kasoa road when done.
He directed the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly to immediately earmark structures that required demolition around the project site to enable the government to know how much compensation was to be paid to affected source:citinewsroom.com

Mahama did not promise to stabilise the struggling Ghana Cedi in 100 days.

Accra, Ghana – In response to some news publications quoting the National Democratic
Congress (NDC) flag bearer John Dramani Mahama as promising to stabilise the Ghana Cedi in
100 days, the Mahama 2024 Campaign wishes to clarify as follows:
Mr Mahama, with a deep understanding of the economic challenges confronting the country
today, did not promise to stabilise the Ghana Cedi within 100 days. Instead, he laid out a
comprehensive plan in his remarks at the 8th Ghana CEO Summit to address the challenges,
demonstrating his grasp of the situation.
To quote him, Mahama stated, “Our number one priority will be stabilising the economy and
restoring a stable currency. We will launch an urgent economic recovery and fiscal
consolidation plan following a national economic dialogue to be held within one hundred days
of assumption of office”.
He also emphasised the need for fiscal discipline and response.Signef.

NDC shielding Ato Forson from accountability – NPP on Ambulance case
Source: Kenneth Awotwe Darko
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of attempting to help the Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, evade justice in the ambulance case.
According to the NPP, the accusations leveled against the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, are merely attempts to prevent him from holding Dr Forson accountable.
NPP legal practitioner, Frank Davies said this at a press conference in reaction to the NDC’s version earlier today.
“We have called you here because the NDC have since last week, set in motion a malicious scheme fueled by lies, falsehoods, misrepresentations, blackmail and needless pollution of the mass media with the sole intention of obstructing the cause of justice and scandalising the criminal proceedings in the High Court all in the bid to shield Ato Forson – MP and Minority Leader in Parliament and former Deputy Minister of Finance – and his associates from taking responsibility for authorising some payments, which resulted in a whooping sum of €3.27 million lost by the State, monies that belonged to us,” he said on Monday.
The NPP official was debunking claims in an NDC press conference, where the opposition released what it claims to be an audio recording of a conversation between the Attorney General and the third accused person in the controversial ambulance purchase trial, Richard Jakpa.
This follows claims by the third accused, Richard Jakpa that the Attorney General had previously approached him to help build a case against the former Deputy Finance Minister.
Mr Jakpa said in open court that the Attorney-General had on several occasions engaged him at odd hours to incriminate the first accused and Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.
“If he pushes me, I will open the Pandora’s box. I don’t understand why the A-G will accuse me of defending A1 [Ato Forson] when I’m here to defend myself,” Mr Jakpa added during court proceedings on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
The NDC party chairman, Asiedu Nketia, who addressed the press conference insisted the alleged tape validates their claim that the Attorney General, Godfred Dame is targeting the Minority Leader through unjust means.
Also speaking at the NPP press conference was organiser of the governing NPP, Henry Nana Boakye.
He dismissed allegations against the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, as “manipulated facts and distorted narratives.”
We demand immediate and unconditional resignation or dismissal of Godfred Dame as AG – NDC Nat’L Chairman
Godfred Dame Yeboah, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, must step down or be fired immediately and without conditions, according to a demand made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The party claims that Mr. Dame ought to face criminal charges in addition to President Akufo-Addo’s dismissal.
, Johnson Asiedu Nketia
The demand was made by the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, at the Tuesday, May 28 Moment of Truth series at the party headquarters.
This comes after the third accused, Richard Jakpa, made accusations against the A-G in open court on Thursday, May 23. Mr. Jakpa was upset with Mr. Dame for his constant attempts to help him incriminate the first accused, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, in the ongoing ambulance purchase trial.
Godfred Dame Yeboah,AG
Speaking to the media, Mr. Nketia played a taped audio clip that purportedly contained the Attorney General and Richard Jakpa’s phone conversation.
The tape contains snippets of the Attorney-General’s voice, which has not yet been verified, requesting that Mr. Jakpa file a medical leave of absence from court until he returns home.
“Considering the scandalous nature of this recording and other forms of evidence we have shown you, we wish to make the following pressing demands as part of efforts to restore credibility to the Attorney-General’s office and Ghana’s judicial system as a whole.
“The immediate and unconditional resignation or dismissal of Godfred Dame for bringing the high office of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice into disrepute and public opprobrium. Clearly, Mr. Dame is not fit to hold himself out as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. He is unfit to be the leader of the Ghanaian Bar,” Mr Asiedu Nketia said.
In addition, the NDC is calling for “his disbarment” and a disciplinary investigation by the General Legal Council into the A-G’s actions on the recording.
“The immediate prosecution of Godfred Dame for multiple violations of the laws of Ghana. We wish to make it clear that should President Akufo-Addo fail to prosecute him, a future NDC government will prosecute Godfred Dame for this heinous crime of fabrication of evidence.
“Commencement of disciplinary proceedings by the General Legal Council against Godfred Dame and his disbarment for conduct unbecoming of a lawyer and more importantly the leader of the Ghana Bar.”

Fix deathtrap Pru River bridge to save lives – Nana Kwadwo Nyarko to govt
By Kofi Owusu
The Paramount Chief of Prang, the district capital of Pru West in the Bono East Region, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, has made a passionate appeal to President Akufo-Addo through the Deputy Minister of Roads, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Stephen Jallulah, to fix the Pru River bridge at Prang which has started deteriorating.
Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III
The state of the bridge
According to him, the bridge serves important purposes not only for drivers and passengers who use it to link Yeji direction but also for local farmers who have to cross it to their various farms.
In an interview, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko indicated that his unique leadership style often draws people close to him, and it was through this that an informant revealed to him the current nature of the Pru River bridge.
“I know our President is a listening one and I trust him as well as my own ‘son’, Stephen Jallulah; they will surely come to my aid as far as the fixing of this bridge is concerned,” he said.
The paramount chief recalled that when the Nyomoase bridge caved in, the President responded to the appeal from him and his people and fixed the problem in the twinkling of an eye.
He stressed the need for the government to urgently fix the minor maintenance on the bridge than to wait for it to cave in and spend huge sums of money on it later.
According to him, the country needs financial resources to embark on numerous projects, hence there is the need to avoid unnecessary cost due to negligence.
He cautioned, “If the Pru River bridge is closed, the only alternative for those coming from Yeji direction is to pass through Prang through Abease to Kintampo, then through Techiman to Kumasi which is too long and this would automatically increase the transport fares.”
He further appealed to President Akufo-Addo that even if the problem cannot be fixed, at least he should direct his men to do maintenance works on the bridge to help prevent any future disaster.
