As part of the efforts to streamline the party’s communications to make it more effective ahead of 2028 general election, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA) ,the newly elected Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman, has urged all media organisations in the region to engage only communicators who have been officially assigned or authorised by the party to represent its views on their political talk shows.

“We’re ever ready and willing to continue to work with you (media), but I wish to appeal to you to also understand us so that we work together for the development of Ghana, especially Asanteman.

COKA, as he’s affectionately called in the political space, pointed out that media organizations inviting individuals who were not assigned or authorised by the party’s communication structures to speak on behalf of the NPP could result in misinformation, disinformation and times create conflicts about the party’s official position on national issues.

Asanteman COKA made the appeal on Saturday, 22nd August, 2026, during a press soiree held at Longford Event Centre at Odeneho Kwadaso in Kumasi.

The press soiree, which was attended by over 150 media professionals, was fully sponsored by COKA.

He, therefore, called on journalists and media houses to verify the status of individuals who presented themselves as NPP communicators before inviting them to participate in political discussions on radio, television, and other media platforms.

“Don’t just invite any NPP member or communicator to represent us on your political talk shows if you really want the party’s position or views on issues. Try as much as possible to always liaise with the communication outfit to get you a representative to ensure effective communication.

You (media houses) may not know the expertise of our party’s communicators, but the communication outfit is in the best position to get you the rightful communicators for various subjects or topics for discussion,” he pleaded.

The Ashanti NPP chairman explained further that the appeal was aimed at ensuring that the NPP’s policies, programmes, and positions on issues were communicated accurately and consistently to the public.

According to him, the party had established communication structures responsible for articulating its official views, and those structures must be respected by both party members and media practitioners.

COKA said journalists had a crucial role to play in ensuring that information presented to the public was accurate, particularly on issues concerning political parties, public policy, and national governance.

He therefore encouraged media practitioners to liaise with the party’s authorised communication structures whenever they required clarification or the NPP’s official position on matters of public interest.

The Chairman-elect also expressed his commitment to maintaining a cordial and professional relationship with the media, describing journalists as important partners in promoting responsible political discourse, public accountability, and national development.

He urged media organisations to uphold professional standards by ensuring that individuals appearing on their political programmes were properly identified and presented according to their actual mandates and affiliations.

COKA further appealed to members of the NPP to respect the party’s communication structures and avoid presenting personal views as official positions of the party.

He said a well-coordinated communication system would help minimise misinformation, promote consistency, and ensure that the public received accurate and credible information about the NPP’s policies and programmes.

COKA also used the opportunity to commend media professionals in the region for their unflinching support. He also pledged to continue to work together with the media at all times.
