By:Isaac Amoah

As a way of honouring the late Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, ahead of the Ejisu by-election, the leadership of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been urged to act swiftly to fix all bad roads which have been neglected across the Ejisu Constituency as they did to honour the late MP for Kumawu, Philip Basoah, and others.

A former British Military Officer and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NTK Ventures headquartered at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Ntim Twumasi Kwaku (NTK), made the call.

Ntim Twumasi Kwaku (NTK)

He reminded the party and the government not to take the electorate or residents of the area for granted; they should rather do needful things for them to retain the seat with a clear statement.

Speaking to  The New Trust_ newspaper, NTK, as he is affectionately called, said, ”As an NPP member, I wish the electorate would vote for an NPP candidate for us to retain the Ejisu seat but it seems the party leadership, from the regional level to the national level, unlike what we saw prior to the Kumawu by-election, are slow or silent in pushing for the fixing of bad roads in the Ejisu Constituency, some of which have been started by the late MP … What is good for the goose is good for the gander!”

Pres.Akufo-Addo, his Vice,Dr.Bawumia and NPP National Chairman,Mr.Stephen Ayesu Ntim.

According to him, there are lots of bad roads in the constituency which the late MP had wished to fix. “Unfortunately, we lost him and I’m calling on my own party to speed up to fix the bad roads in honour of John Kumah, who dedicated himself for the party and the government,” he added.

Mr.Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi, Ashanti regional NPP Chairman.

Mr Ntim Twumasi Kwaku, who is a former Ejisu NPP Second Vice Chairman, mentioned some of the bad roads as Ejisu to Asamang through to Baworo Road, Ekyem,Ejisu SHS area town roads.Kokobra, Akokoamon to Amoam Achiase road.Other bad roads are ;Kwaso to Okroase
Timeabu road,Abenase to Asensuaso,Ejisu Nkokroabom town roads ,
Ejisu-Onwe-Essieninpong-Kwaso main road among others, which need immediate attention.

He said the late MP had tackled some roads and it was his wish to lobby for the fixing of the rest of the bad road networks in the constituency but, unfortunately, he passed away.

“What are we (NPP) doing to honour this young man who dedicated himself for the party and the government…? ” he asked.

“Let’s fix the bad roads and name at least two of the roads after John Kumah…” he proposed.

The former MP died on Thursday, 7th March 2024, after a short illness and the NPP has announced to elect a parliamentary candidate for the upcoming by-election on Saturday,13th April,2024.
