Kumasi, Ghana – The Ashanti Regional Executive of the Ghana Journalists’ Association (GJA) has officially opened applications for the 2025 Ashanti Region GJA Excellence Awards, an annual event that celebrates outstanding journalism and honors media practitioners whose work has made a significant impact in the region.

The theme for this year’s award is “Celebrating Excellence, Championing Credibility: Journalism in the Age of AI.”

Media practitioners across the Ashanti Region are encouraged to submit their best published or broadcast works for consideration and recognition among their peers.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND RULES
• The competition is opened to all media practitioners in the Ashanti Region.

• Members of the Ashanti Regional Executive, the Awards Committee, and members of the Awards Jury are not eligible to contest.

• Entries should cover works published or broadcast from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.

 

 

• Applicants may submit entries for a maximum of two (2) award divisions, and not more than two (2) published or broadcast works should be submitted for each award division.

• One published or broadcast work shall not be entered in more than one award division.

• Applicants should submit clear, original published or broadcast works for each entry.

• Applicants must upload a recent passport-sized photograph.

• Applicants are advised to ensure a stable internet connection to facilitate the smooth submission of entries.
• Entries should be titled “Ashanti GJA Excellence Awards 2025” and must include the applicant’s full name, media organization, telephone number, and email address.

• The Awards Committee reserves the right not to present an award in any category where entries fail to meet the required standard of excellence.

• The Awards Committee and Jury shall work together to define who wins the Ashanti Regional Journalist of the Year.

Kofi Badu Veteran Award – This award has been instituted to honor veterans who have made a mark in the field. It is named after the Chief of Staff to the Asantehene, Kofi Badu, and is expected to strengthen the bond between the Asantehene and the media in the Ashanti Region.

The Ashanti Regional GJA Excellence Awards reaffirm the Association’s commitment to promoting ethical journalism, media professionalism, press freedom, and reporting that contributes to the socio-economic development of the Ashanti Region and Ghana.

Media practitioners are encouraged to submit their best works and compete for recognition among their peers.
