It has come to our attention that on Wednesday, 19 October 2022, Hon. Fifi Kwettey an aspirant in the NDC General Secretary contest in an interview on Asempa Fm’s political talkshow Ekosisen indicated that, the NDC could not collate the results for the 2020 election.
This comment is completely false and contradicts the official position of the party and other stakeholders including the Flagbearer, National Chairman, IT Directorate, Election Directorate and many other leading members of the party who were active and didn’t go to sleep during the 2020 election.
We believe that as a democratic party, we should exercise our internal elections decorously in a manner which preserves the good image of the party and keeps us in a united position to capture power from the reckless NPP government.
In that regard, people who are seeking to lead the party must campaign with facts and focus on their message rather than resorting to attacking thier opponents.
We are scandalized that a leading member of the party member could sit on a national platform to speak ill about the party in such a manner as has been exhibited by Hon. Fifi Kwettey.
This singular act has exposed to party to public ridicule as it seeks to contradict the party’s position and rather confirm the propaganda of NPP after the 2020 election.
For the purpose of clarity, it must be noted that in the 2020 elections, the party had a fully functioning IT Directorate responsible for collation and electronic transmission of results while the Election Directorate led by the able Hon.Elvis Afriyie Ankrah was mandated to identify, recruit, train and deploy party agents across the country as well as printing election materials and safe distribution.
Hon.Elvis Afriyie Ankrah by way of experience and his role as Elections Director also created another layer for manual collation of results which became a backup to the electronic transmission.
It is therefore palpably false for anyone to claim that the NDC couldn’t collate 2020 results.
It must also be noted the legal strategy for the 2020 election petition which was determined by the legal team of the party led by the venerable Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata had nothing to do with the party’s collated results. The NDC was in court to challenge the credibility of the inconsistent multiple results declared by the Electoral commissioner Jean Mensah. It was however unfortunate that the unanimous FC refused to allow the Jean Mensah to be cross-examined.
Delegates, NDC members as well as well meaning Ghanaians should therefore disregard/ignore these baseless claims by Hon. Fifi Kwettey and focus on working hard in ensuring NDC wins elections 2024 and save Ghana from the current economic challenges.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah is highly experienced, has the track records and capabilities, and is very committed to leading the NDC as the next General Secretary to unite and build a vibrant party front for victory 2024 and beyond.
A win for Elvis Afriyie Ankrah is a direct victory for NDC.
🇵🇸It’s all about the party🇵🇸
