The Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr Richard Kwasi Ofori Agyemang, who’s popularly known as King Zuba, has stressed the need for Assembly members, especially Presiding Members (PMs) of the various Assemblies, to work together with their Metropolitan, Municipal and District Executives to help bring the needed development to the citizens devoid of partisan politics and individual interest.
According to him, no chief executive can succeed without the support of his or her presiding members (PMs) and the assembly members. There’s therefore the need for MMDCES and assembly members to bury any difference if there is partisan politics for the interest of development of their community members.

King Zuba, as he’s affectionately called in the political space, made the appeal during the 3-day annual conference of the Conference of Presiding Members in the Ashanti Region held at Miklin Hotel.The conference, which was on the theme “Leading Change:
The Role of Presiding Members”, was chaired by Mr Richard Kwasi Ofori Agyemang. The Kumasi Mayor, who is also the former Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi, called for every hand on deck approach to prevent all forms of corrupt practices in the local governance system.
‘We all need to work together to protect the public purse devoid of corrupt practices so as to help accelerate development.’He maintained that the local governance system is pivotal when it comes to development, and stakeholders must all play their roles effectively to ensure the needed development for their communities.
King Zuba cautioned against partisan politics and cited several examples of how a good working relationship with his Presiding Member (PM) from a different political divide has helped in managing huge judgement debts he inherited and other positive initiatives.
According to him, they’ve never allowed partisan politics to divide their focus and attention on seeking the needed development for Kumasi and Asanteman.
He therefore encouraged other municipal and district chief executives and their PMs and assembly members to emulate their good example.
