Lead counsel Samuel Atta Akyea has dismissed reports that Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, has been granted bail. According to him, the legislator’s legal team has not been informed of any bail conditions and insists that the MP remains in EOCO custody.
This denial follows earlier reports that Mr. Baffour Awuah had been granted bail of GH¢50 million with three sureties after appearing before the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The MP voluntarily reported himself to EOCO on Thursday, October 1, following a High Court warrant issued for his arrest in connection with an ongoing investigation into transactions at SIC Life Savings and Loans.
The probe centres on allegations of criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, and tax-related offences. Mr. Baffour Awuah has rejected claims that he received GH¢2.2 million in legal fees, and has contested EOCO’s account of its earlier attempts to secure his attendance.

EOCO has stressed that its investigation remains ongoing and cautioned against premature conclusions about the MP’s culpability, insisting that the matter must go through the appropriate investigative and judicial processes.Source : Peacefmonline.com/Ghana
