The Paramount Chief for Prang in the Pru West District of the Bono East Region, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, has urged President Mahama’s-led government to take decisive steps to ensure the completion and operationalisation of Agenda 111 hospital at Prang. He said the facility was strategically placed at Prang to bridge the gaps in health infrastructure in the adjoining districts.

Speaking to this paper, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko said the President should respond to widespread public and traditional appeals regarding the completion of the facility, which is almost in completion.

He said that accessing quality health care should be seen as paramount among all the sectors.

“When there is no hospital in your district, illness is not just a health problem. It is an economic catastrophe. People lose working hours. Communities become unattractive to attract investors,” he added.

It would be recalled that the Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandor announced some months ago that the government has decided to prioritise 35 of the facilities based on their progress and immediate community need rather than attempting to finance all remaining projects simultaneously. Prangmanhene said it baffles him as to why contractors have not yet reported on site despite the assurance by the minister and the president himself.

He said there is no major hospital within that enclave and that all the referrals and emergency cases are being handled either in Mampong or Kumasi.”Today, I plead with his Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, to come to our aid by ensuring that this project is completed so as to give us quality health care.” He said.

Nana Kwadwo Nyarko assured the government, and for that matter, President Mahama that the people of Prang would forever be grateful to him if this project is completed and his name would also be boldly written in the Prang Traditional archive.
