Napo donates medical equipment & playroom items to KATH children’s wards to celebrate birthday

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the 2024 running mate to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who doubles as the former energy minister, has donated hospital equipment and playroom items to various children’s wards at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) based on their needs to celebrate his birthday.

The beneficiary awards were the B3 award, the B4 award, the B5 award, and the C5 award, respectively.

The former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, who is popularly known as Napo in the political space, on Sunday, 31st May, 2026, supplied all items requested by the various wards to enable them to continue to deliver quality health care to the children at the admission.

Before making a separate donation, Napo requested Dr. Nana Adwoa Bando to liaise with the various wards and compile their needs, and that was perfectly done as the officers in charge of the various wards confirmed that all items requested had been supplied.

 

 

The equipment supplied or donated by Napo, who is also a former worker at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), were as follows;
At the B3 award, Dr Mathew Opoku donated a glucometer  2, a thermometer 4 , pulse oximeters 2, and an oxygen cylinder 2.

At B4 award,the following equipment was supplied or donated by Napo;Cardiac monitor Perfusor (single & double): pulse oximeter 2  drip stand  2. Nebuliser 2, instruments (galipot, kidney dish), paediatric BP monitor 2, Structure.

At B5 ward,the following equipment based on their needs were supplied by Napo,Perfuser,Pulse oximeter 4),Nebulizer 5,Instruments(galipot, kidney dish) ,Pediatric bp monitor 2.

At C5 ward,the former Energy Minister supplied Pulse oximeter 4 ,Axillary thermometer 10,Suction machine,2,Drug crusher bowl( mortar and pestle),2,Plastic Chairs-10.

Besides, the medical equipment Napo also donated playroom items include: Kids Tablets- 2 ,Colouring book- 20 ,Colors- pack 10 ,Balls-20 ,Handheld water play toys- 10 ,Legos-10 packs ,blocks- 10 packs,Story books- 10  ,Toy cars- 10 ,Colourful books –  10 .The grand total of the equipment and playroom items procured by Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, aka Napo, was seventy-two thousand four hundred Ghana cedis (GHC 72,400).

Speaking shortly to journalists after donation, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh he believed in the biblical principle of giving to the needed, and that has been his motivation of always celebrating his birthdays with donations to children .

According to him, there is a need for all members of society to try and support and share the little they have with the needy in society since there are blessings attached for such gestures.

Napo also commended the health personnel for their dedication and commitment to service while encouraging them to continue to serve the nation with dedication.

Napo also spent time interacting with the health personnel while sharing his experience working with the hospital to motivate them to continue to give out their best .The former education minister, who also served as Energy Minister under President Akufo-Addo administration, also interacted with children on admission and their parents.

He therefore appeals to the government to take very good care of health professionals at all times.

The one in charge of the B-3 award (paediatric) is Nicolas Agyapong, Ellen Amako Oduro,the Nursing Officer, B5 award as well as their colleagues in charge of the other wards were full of gratitude to Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) for his kind gesture.

They prayed and asked God to give him a long life full of strength to continue to support those in need and quality health delivery.
