New NPP national executives line-up signals renewed grassroots drive ahead of 2028 polls-Dennis Kwakwa says

The Ashanti Regional Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Dennis Kwakwa, says the calibre of persons that have been elected to lead the party has sent a powerful signal about where it intends to place its emphasis ahead of the 2028 general election.

He explained that the current national executives, led by Mr John Boadu and Kojo Fosu Boadu and Justice Kodua, have given the party the kind of leadership who clearly understand grassroots organization and direct engagement with voters.

Mr Kwakwa, speaking in an exclusive interview with the Daily Statesman on Monday following the election of the party’s new national executives in Kumasi on Saturday, said the composition of the new leadership was a clear indication that the NPP was preparing to return to the political field with renewed focus on grounds work, mobilisation and direct contact with the electorate.

He described the development as a “clear sign of Victory 2028,” arguing that the major task confronting the party between now and the next general election would not simply be administration, but the ability of its officials to move into communities, engage voters and rebuild strong relationships at the grassroots.

“The major task for party officials is to make direct contact with the electorates. That means grounds work,” Mr Kwakwa told the Daily Statesman.

According to the Regional Organiser, such a task required people who were naturally comfortable engaging ordinary Ghanaians directly, insisting that leadership suit the anticipated job ahead of election 2028.

According to him, many of the newly elected national executives have already worked at the grassroots and understand the realities confronting ordinary party members and voters.

“Most of the people elected have been to the ghettos before. They know where our problems are,” he said.

Mr Kwakwa said the experience of the new executives meant the party would not have to spend valuable time training or orienting them on the fundamentals of grassroots politics.

“They have no problem mingling with the masses,” he added, stressing that their familiarity with grassroots engagement could allow the NPP’s organisational machinery to move into action almost immediately.

The NPP elected former General Secretary John Boadu as National Chairman at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, with Justin Kodua Frimpong retaining the General Secretary position. Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover was elected National Organiser, Abanga Fuseini Yakubu National Youth Organiser and Mavis Hawa Koomson National Women’s Organiser, among other newly elected executives.

For Mr Kwakwa, the outcome was not merely an exercise in changing the party’s leadership structure, adding it reflected the judgment of the NPP’s delegates, whom he described as having consistently demonstrated a clear understanding of the type of leadership the party requires at different moments in its political history.

He maintained that NPP delegates have always been “right and precise” in determining the calibre of individuals they want to lead the party.

Against this backdrop, Mr Kwakwa expressed strong confidence in the NPP’s prospects going into 2028, saying the new national executive team under Mr Boadu had generated fresh confidence among the party’s core supporters.

He said the renewed confidence, combined with a leadership structure dominated by individuals familiar with grassroots mobilisation, had created the conditions for the party to begin its organisational work in earnest.

“The actual work towards 2028 can begin earnestly,” Mr Kwakwa said.

For the Ashanti Regional Organiser, the message from Kumasi is therefore unmistakable: the NPP’s new leadership is being positioned not merely to sit in offices, but to return to the communities, reconnect with the electorate and take the party’s campaign for 2028 directly to the grassroots.
