The Paramount Chief for the Prang traditional area in the Pru West District of the Bono East Region, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, says it would be prudent and a great advantage to all traditional leaders to pursue sociology & political science courses to shape their chieftaincy governance.

According to him, these courses, which he studied some years ago at the University of Ghana (UG), have greatly helped him to understand different tribes within his jurisdiction and how he relates positively with all political leaders in the country, which has led to Prang witnessing great infrastructural achievements.

“I wanted to pursue law at the University of Ghana at that time, but the then board of the university advised me to divert it to pursue sociology & political science, looking at my background. “I must say honestly that it has helped me,” he added.

The Prangmanhene explained that his land is fully occupied by different tribes like Konkomas, Nchumuru, Gonjas, Frafra, Kusaasis, and Fulani, among others, and studying these courses has helped him to understand their cultures and their way of living for peaceful co-existence.
He said Prang is one of the peaceful traditional areas in the country, and it is not about magic but rather the courses he pursued have guided his administration as the traditional leader.
He noted that most chieftaincy disputes, as well as conflicts between some traditional leaders and their people, are as a result of lack of experience in handling conflicts.
“These courses, especially sociology, will take you through a lot, especially conflict resolution, and this will help you as a traditional leader to always handle issues when they are brought before you,” he advised.
“Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III wouldn’t have attained these successes if not for these courses I pursued,” he stressed.
