The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) congratulates the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on winning the bid to host the 6th Continental Congress of the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) in Accra. This is a proud moment for Ghana’s media fraternity and a well-deserved recognition of the GJA’s standing within the Pan-African journalists’ movement.

PRINPAG commends the solidarity and unity that continue to define Ghana’s media landscape, as demonstrated by the successful hosting of the recent FAJ Steering Committee meeting through the collaboration of the GJA and corporate partners such as KGL Group. This spirit of cooperation must be sustained as Ghana’s media organisations confront shared challenges, including growing economic pressures on the industry.

PRINPAG reaffirms its unwavering commitment to supporting the GJA and all sister media organisations in advancing the cause of journalism, and pledges that its members stand ready to support a successful 6th FAJ Continental Congress with whatever expertise and goodwill are needed to ensure Ghana delivers a memorable gathering for African journalists.

PRINPAG also commends the Government of Ghana for its continued support to the media and for sustaining an environment conducive to press freedom, including the assurance by the Honourable Felix Kwakye Ofosu that journalists will not be harassed or intimidated, and the engagement by President John Dramani Mahama with the FAJ leadership on media freedom and journalist safety.

As Ghana prepares to host this important continental event, PRINPAG calls on all stakeholders in the media industry, government and development partners to rally behind this national assignment and ensure its success.
