Stop frustrating Ghanaian businesses-Ken Agyapong tells GRA
Firebrand politician and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has called on the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to reform what he describes as its “harsh and intimidating” approach toward local entrepreneurs.
He made the remarks during an engagement with delegates in the Central Region as part of his outreach tour.

According to Mr. Agyapong, many Ghanaian businessmen continue to face unnecessary frustration when attempting to establish and grow their enterprises. He said the aggressive posture of some GRA officials creates the perception that local business owners are criminals rather than partners in national development.
“The GRA should stop treating Ghanaian businessmen like criminals. When people try to build companies in this country, they go through too much frustration. How do we expect to create jobs when the very institutions meant to help are scaring business owners?” he stressed.
He warned that such practices do not only discourage investment but also undermine Ghana’s efforts to create sustainable employment for the youth.
Mr. Agyapong argued that local businesses—already grappling with high operational costs, regulatory hurdles, and limited access to capital—should be supported instead of being subjected to what he described as “needless harassment.”
He urged the government and relevant state agencies to adopt business-friendly policies and ensure that revenue mobilization efforts do not suffocate enterprises that are crucial to national economic growth.
