Top Lawyer to sponsor branding of DRIP equipment with pictures of Akufo-Addo, Bawumia

Lawyer Enoch Anhwere Afoakwah, a Private Legal Practitioner and Member of the New Patriotic Party’s National Communications Team, has indicated that he will in the coming days, be funding personally the branding of the Trucks and Machinery procured by the Akufo-Addo Addo/Bawumia administration for the District Road Improvement Project with images of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

This is in recognition of their effort in this historic journey to transform the road infrastructure management and improvement with the official launch of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP-2024). .

Lawyer Enoch Anhwere Afoakwah

Lawyer Afoakwah, revealed his intention in an interaction with some journalists, during the Annual conference of the Ghana Bar Association in Kumasi.
He emphasised that, the biggest worry of every Ghanaian is poor road infrastructure. It is the very foundation for economic development, no wonder the current administration led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,declared the year of roads project and focused on building and maintaining over twelve thousand kilometres (12,000km) of roads since 2017.
Road infrastructure deficit, has been one of the major challenges of Ghana, since independence and this policy being the biggest decentralized road improvement project is the biggest single policy intervention to ensure the people of Ghana, get at least some level of motorable roads to drive on.
Lawyer Afoakwah, was however, shocked to hear former President Mahama speaking at a rally in Yeji, in the Pru East District, claimed that the DRIP project, funded by taxpayers’ money, should not be used for political advertising.

“I asked myself, whether it was not this same man whose government in 2015 engaged smarttys Management and Production with public funds to rebrand the 116 metro mass transit buses with his pictures at a whooping cost of GHC3.6million.Was he(Mahama)not the same person ,who branded the RLG laptops distributed to some Senior High Schools with his pictures? Was he not the same person, who branded the various uncompleted E-Block school buildings with his pictures prior to the 2016 elections?
Lawyer Afoakwah stated that,if branding assets procured with public funds, with pictures of others including that of the President is wrong, then Former President Mahama, should be apologising to the good people of Ghana, but if it is not wrong then ‘i will personally be funding the branding of all the DRIP Trucks and Machinery with the picture of the President and Vice President”.
This initiative by the Government of Ghana is set to empower Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with the tools and resources needed to enhance road networks across the country.
With DRIP-2024, Ghana is not just building roads; it is paving the way for a brighter, more connected future. The impact of this initiative will be felt for generations to come, as improved infrastructure lays the foundation for continued growth and source:John Awuni
