Vice-Chancellor Of AAMUSTED Calls For Support From Alumni Association.

 

 

 

Professor Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, Vice Chancellor at the Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills-Training And Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has urged past students of the university to join the Alumni Association so that they could contribute their knowledge and expertise into the shaping of the current students and to participate in the development of the main campus and others elsewhere.

Addressing participants during the 2023 Annual General Meeting of the AAMUSTED Alumni Association on Thursday under the theme ‘’Towards the Growth of A New University: the Role of the Alumni’’, the Vice Chancellor said past students of universities are the evidence of the outcome of all the sacrifices and hard work the schools commit to grooming responsible citizens.

He therefore commended members of the Alumni Association for contributing immensely and in diverse ways towards the development of the country.

‘’AAMUSTED knows the critical role that Alumni play in the development and transformation of a university and as such we are firmly behind you and it is based on this that the University has set up an office under the Directorate of Research, International Programs and Institutional Advancement we have appointed an Assistant Registrar to be responsible for Alumni Affairs’’, the Vice Chancellor stated.

Exploits:
Enumerating some of the modest achievements of AAMUSTED, the Vice Chancellor said the school had achieved peace and stability on campus.

He noted that they had conducted a needs assessment to guide the operations of the school so that it could run it to meet the demands of the society.

Having increased the number of academic programs at AAMUSTED, the Vice Chancellor added that the number of teaching and non staff has increased by 13.6% with the number of Professors on campus soaring to 350%.

He noted that the University has been winning projects and research grants to facilitate research, capacity building and other activities to promote quality and development of education.

 

Role of Alumni:
Speaking on the Role of Alumni, Professor Isaac Boateng, Lecturer and Acting Director, Institute of Life-long Learning and Teacher Development at AAMUSTED noted that there were factors that influence the growth of every university.

He said the quality of delivery of core activities such as research, teaching, community services, administration and support services are a measure of growth, adding that Alumni input in these ways was crucial.

He also noted that measures such as speed of operations, better induction and early career guidance could influence the growth of every university since every potential student would be looking out for these before they enroll.

Other measures such as stakeholder experience and scaling up as well as multi campus operations could positively impact the development of universities.

‘’AAMUSTED needs to transform our Alumni relations for the university advancement activity since the Alumni are the ambassadors of the university. Establishing therefore, a lifelong relationship with Alumni will enhance our global visibility’’, Prof Boateng stated.

Alumni Relationships:
Professor Boateng suggested to the Alumni Association to do more to activate the group’s operations and keep their relationships intact.

He urged them to use the social media platforms to increase activisim amongs the Alumni members.

He also called for the creation of a whatsapp group for all Alumni so they could stay in touch, interact and share ideas that will make the Association vibrant.
