The rank and file of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), especially in the Ashanti Region, have been urged to come together as one family and work hard to ensure the party recaptures power devoid of division and other divisive tendencies.

Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), the newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, who made the call, said the doors of the new executives had been opened for everyone to come on board to ensure the party mobilises the needed votes to ensure a resounding victory for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in 2028.

COKA, as he is affectionately called in the political space, made the clarion call during a thanksgiving service organised by the newly elected executives to thank God for a successful election.

The Thanksgiving Service was held on Sunday, 6th September 2026, at Gracefieds Chapel-Havillah city Chapel, Ahodwo in Kumasi.

The Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, who was honoured by the Afigya Kwabre South constituency executives, where he served for 20 years as constituency chairman, led attendees to observe a minute silence for the former Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, who is currently serving a 20-jail term.

According to him, the need for every member of the party to put behind the regional contest cannot be overemphasised; they should rather forge ahead in unity.

He, therefore, asked for forgiveness of any sin or offence he and other elected executives may have caused in the run-up to the campaign.

“I am asking you (supporters) to forgive my other executives any sin or offence we might have committed in the run-up to our election, and let’s all come together in unity,” he pleaded.

“Again, if anyone has also wronged us in any way, we have already forgiven them. Let’s forgive one another. We’re all here to thank God, and this thanksgiving can’t be complete if we don’t forgive one another…,” he added.

He continued, “We want to win power in 2028. Power may elude us if we remain selective and disvisive. We need unity to help Dr Bawumia win power.”

On his part, Mr Kwame Ayimadu Antwi, on behalf of 39 NPP Members of Parliament (MPs) in the region, pledged their unflinching support for the COKA-led executives. “I’m here as the caucus chairman to pledge our unflinching support for the COKA-led executives,” he pointed out.

The General Secretary of the party, Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua, on behalf of Dr Bawumia and the national executives of the party, commended the Ashanti Region for the peaceful and successful regional election. He also stressed the need for unity.

According to him, the Ashanti Region and for that matter the new executives have a lot of work to do to ensure the party’s victory comes in 2028. He, therefore, tasked them to redouble their efforts in unity to enable them to maximise votes for Dr Bawumia to recapture power for NPP.

The Thanksgiving Service was on the theme “A Heart of Gratitude: A Life of Praise.”

The service was spiced by the praise and worshipping team of the church, among other top musicians, amid singing and dancing in gratitude to God.

The service was attended by a number of incumbent MPs, former Ministers of State under both former President John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former government appointees, former MMDCEs and Council of Elders.

Others included the former constituency and regional executives as well as the newly elected executives from the constituency and regional executives.

A cross section of the residents of the Ashanti Region, especially the sympathisers of the party, also attended the spirit-filled Thanksgiving Service.

The General Secretary of the party, Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua, who is seeking re-election as well as Mr John Boadu, Mr Boakye Agyarko Kyeremateng, Samuel Pyne, and Henry Nana Boakye, Paul Afoko, among NPP national executives, were also hopeful and attended the service.
