The Ashanti Regional Organiser for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Adomako, has castigated the ex-President of Ghana and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2024 presidential election, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, for displaying pure hypocrisy and total desperation for power.

According to him, Mr Mahama’s recent comment that the ongoing distribution of tablets to senior high school (SHS) students by the Akufo-Addo administration, through the Ministry of Education, is meant for vote-buying ahead of the 2024 general election clearly exposes him as a double-standard man, who should not be taken seriously.

The regional organiser, who is popularly known in the political space as François, said the free tablets initiative is aimed at advancing the computer literacy and technological know-how of young Ghanaian students.

The Akufo-Addo administration has, therefore, committed itself to providing pre-programmed laptops for each SHS student across the country.

Speaking to TNTONLINE, François, who is an educationist, was totally surprised at Mr. Mahama’s double-standard posture, asking him (Mahama) and the NDC to tell Ghanaians if the distribution of about 7,000 laptops to students by his government in the past was meant for vote-buying?

His comment follows the recent outburst by Mr. Mahama after President Akufo-Addo had launched the free tablets initiative to provide about one million tablets to Ghanaian students.

Mr. Mahama is reported to have said, “You bring a new curriculum but the children have not had textbooks in basic schools for the past four years and you think that giving pre-tertiary students tablets is more important. Of course, everybody knows the political expediency.”

The pre-tertiary students are going to register in May because some of them are going to be 18 and above. Some are 18 already and they are going to be the ones voting. So this is a gift to entice them to vote for the current government. It’s a bribe for them to vote for this government, but I mean the students do not exist in isolation.They live in households and families,” he added. (myjoyonline.com).

It is based on this comment that the NPP organiser has cautioned Ghanaians, especially first-time voters, not to allow themselves to be deceived by Mr. Mahama because he is a threat to the future development of the country, especially the pro-poor Free SHS programme being implemented by the Akufo-Addo administration.

“Let’s continue to trust and have confidence in the NPP government and vote massively for Dr. Mahama Bawumia, the NPP Flagbearer for the 2024 presidential election, to come and continue the good foundation that has been laid by Nana Akufo-Addo,” he stressed.
