COFAAA honours African Cocoa boards:Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria & Sunbeth Global Concepts

The Cocoa Farmers Alliance Association of Africa (COFAAA) has honoured leading African Cocoa Boards: Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria and Sunbeth Global Concepts for their exceptional leadership doggedness, development, innovation, and commitment to advancing sustainable cocoa production and fair trade to support the cocoa farmers in our continent.

The awards were presented during the just-concluded African Cocoa Summit and Awards on October 22nd and 23rd, 2025 held at the ISSER Conference Centre, University of Ghana, Accra. The event, themed “Building Sustainable Africa Cocoa Ecosystem: Unlocking Economic Potentials,

Driving Inclusive Growth” was organised by COFAAA in partnership with the Cocoa Roundtable Initiative (CORI) and attended by key stakeholders cut across Africa’s cocoa-producing nations and global cocoa industry.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions to the development and support of Africa’s cocoa farmers’ livelihood, Ghana’s COCOBOD, Nigeria’s National Cocoa Management Committee (NCMC), Cameroon’s National Cocoa and Coffee Board (ONCC–NCBB), and Côte d’Ivoire’s Conseil du Café-Cacao (CCC) were honoured with the prestigious Africa Cocoa Institution Development Champion Award.

The Africa Cocoa Institution Development Champion Award celebrates cocoa boards that have demonstrated remarkable leadership in formulating and implementing policies that strengthen cocoa farmers’ welfare, promote sustainability, and enhance value addition within the cocoa sector.

In addition, Sunbeth Global Concepts Ltd received the Africa Cocoa Fair Trading and Sustainability Champion Award, in recognition of its unwavering commitment to fair trade principles, ethical sourcing, and supporting cocoa farmers along sustainable practices across cocoa-producing communities in Africa.
Speaking at the awards presentation alongside the Country Director of COFAAA- USA and the Summit Team Lead-Mr. Nsidibe Etim and other board members of COFAAA present, the Global President of COFAAA, Comrade Adeola Adegoke, described the honourees as “torch-bearers of a new cocoa vision for Africa.” “These awards go beyond celebration, they symbolise a continental commitment to justice, sustainability, hope and shared prosperity,” Adegoke said.
“Ghana’s COCOBOD, Nigeria’s NCMC, Cameroon’s ONCC–NCBB, and Côte d’Ivoire’s CCC have set remarkable examples in institutional leadership and policy direction, ensuring that cocoa farmers are not just producers, but beneficiaries of their hard work.” Also, the 70% production that has been sustained over the years has been one of hallmarks of doggedness of these boards from these cocoa producing nations in Africa. He further applauded Sunbeth Global Concepts for its pioneering role in promoting transparent trade relationships and sustainable production practices that align with international standards.
“Sunbeth Global Concepts has demonstrated that private sector leadership can coexist with economic fairness, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility,” Adegoke stated. “This is the model we want to see across Africa, one where profit, fairness and shared prosperity rule the industry”.
