CONDEMNATION OF ELECTORAL VIOLENCE DURING THE COUNCIL OF STATE ELECTIONS IN ASHANTI REGION.
The conference of Presiding Members, Ashanti Region dedicated to promoting democratic values, strongly condemns the recent violence by unknown ‘macho men’s at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) during the Council of state members elections held on Tuesday, 11th February, 2025. This action not only undermines the integrity of the Electoral process but also jeopardizes the very foundation of our democracy.

The Executives of Ashanti Regional Association of Presiding Members

The reported incidents of violence, intimidation and harassment are unacceptable and have no place in our democratic society. We urge all political parties, candidates and law enforcement agencies to take immediate action to prevent further violence and ensure a peaceful Electoral process. WE ALSO URGE THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION TO STANT FIRM AND TAKE THE NECESSARY ACTION.

We again noticed that, delegates for this election were not given a kind of accreditation to easily identify them which needs to be seriously looked at in subsequent elections.

KEY DEMANDS
1. An immediate end to all forms of Electoral violence and intimidation
2. A thorough investigation into the reported incidents and prosecution of those responsible
3. Enhancement of security measures to ensure a safe and peaceful Electoral process.
4. Commitment from all stakeholders to respect the democratic process and the Rule of law.

We stand in solidarity with the victims of this Electoral violence and will continue to advocate for a peaceful democratic resolution.
