KRACHI WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HONORS GALLANT FARMERS & FISHERFOLS
The Krachi West Municipal Assembly has honored exceptional farmers and fisherfolk at the 41st Municipal Farmers’ Day celebration, held at Ehiamankyene. The annual event recognized individuals and groups whose hard work continues to drive agricultural production and ensure food security in the municipality.


Mr. Bingo Yaw, a dedicated farmer from Bommoden, was adjudged the Overall Best Farmer for 2025. He was presented with a brand-new motor tricycle and bags of fertilizer. The First Runner-Up, Mr. Nteh Edward of Gyaesayor, received a brand-new motorbike, while the Second Runner-Up, Mr. Kumah Clement from Dadekro, was awarded a double-door refrigerator.
In addition, Mr. Agbenyeke Nicholas, a fisherman from Kponfri, has been adjudged the Municipal Best Fisherman. For the first time in the history of the awards, he was presented with a brand-new 15-horsepower outboard motor.This year’s celebration was held under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”

It was organized by the Krachi West Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for Krachi West, Hon. Rev. Helen Adjoa Ntoso, through the Municipal Department of Agriculture. The event attracted a wide range of dignitaries, including the Municipal Chief Executive,

Hon. Addo K. Prosper; Heads of Departments and Agencies; security personnel; traditional authorities; community leaders; youth groups; farmers; fisherfolk; and members of the media.In his keynote address, Hon. Addo K. Prosper urged individuals, schools, restaurants, and food vendors to consciously choose Ghanaian foods to support local agriculture.
He outlined various government initiatives aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, including expanded irrigation facilities, increased mechanization services, and the establishment of agricultural service centers.
The MCE reported that over 2,000 bags of fertilizer had been distributed to farmers within the municipality this year as part of efforts to enhance productivity.
He concluded by encouraging residents of Ehiamankyene, the host community, to embrace peace and unity to accelerate development.
In total, 20 individual farmers, one Farmer-Based Organization (FBO), two schools, and one large-scale farm were honored for their remarkable contributions to agricultural development in the municipality.Compiled by:
