The Catholic Bishop of the Goaso Diocese, Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene, says extending the presidential term from four to five years under the ongoing constitutional review, will not change anything if elected leaders do not have the right mentality to develop the nation.
According to the Bishop, what Ghanaians need is not necessarily a longer term in office, but leaders with good conscience, integrity, and commitment to ensure peace of mind and holistic development for the citizenry.

He made these remarks during his double jubilee celebration to mark his 70th birthday and 40th priestly anniversary at the Goaso Diocesan Cathedral.
Most Rev. Atuahene explained that if leaders are elected with a genuine mindset to serve and transform the country, even a four-year term is enough to make significant impact, but if the mentality remains poor, even ten years will not bring development.
The Bishop, therefore, admonished Christians to remain faithful to God’s calling and not deviate from their divine vocations, whether as teachers, lawyers, doctors, priests, or other professions.

The ceremony was graced by archbishops and bishops from various dioceses, Nananom, political leaders, clergymen, and religious sisters.
Meanwhile, some religious leaders and church members who attended the celebration in an interview with Oheneba Dankwah Jupitar Owusu expressed profound gratitude to God for the life of Bishop Atuahene and commended him for his selfless dedication, humility, and immense contribution to the growth of the Catholic Church and the development of the Goaso Diocese over the past 40 years of priesthood.
They described him as a true shepherd whose exemplary leadership continues to inspire the youth and the entire Church.Church members, Religious leaders , commending Bishop Atuahene and his good works.
