Afigya Kwabre DCE denies claims of misuse of IGF…as he showcases unprecedented achievements

The Afigya Kwabre South Chief Executive (DCE),Christian Adu poku, has denied  claims made by some residents ,especially Mr.Oppong Kyekyeku,a former DCE for the area during NDC administration that, he(Christian Addai Poku), has misused the quarry development fund and the Internal Generated Fund(IGF) raised by the District for his personal interest instead for developmental projects in the District.

He said such allegations, are false and that all internal generated funds including the Quarry development fund, had been used for developmental projects in the districts. Adding that his administration as the DCE, has seen massive improvement in the area of developmental projects as compare to the previous District Chief Executives (DCEs).

Afigya-Kwabre District Assembly is one of the Forty-Three(43) Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies in Ashanti.

It was established by Legislative Instrument L.I 1885 of November 2007 carved out of the former Kwabre and Afigya-Sekyere District Assemblies, with Kodie as its Capital town.

The Assembly, is responsible for the overall development of the district. It is also responsible for the formulation of programmes and strategies for effective mobilization and utilization of human, material, and financial resources to improve upon the quality of life of the people in the district.

The key economic activities in the district, are stone and sand winning, farming and commerce.

In line with the rapid expansion of settlements and constructional activities and increasing population in the district, it has formed a quarry development fund meant to mobilize funding for developmental projects which includes construction of roads, school blocks, and health facilities among others to serve the people of within the district.

Reacting to claims by some individuals and residents from the district, the District Chief Executive (DCE),  Mr. Christian Adu poku refuted claims that, he has used the fund for his personal interest instead for developmental projects in the district.

He said under his administration, he has improved and expand upon the road infrastructure, construct health centre; classroom blocks and improve upon the security situation in the district using the Internal generated and the quarry development fund.Story by:Gregory Kwaku Manu
