Decision follows stakeholder engagement.
Medical services expected to resume.
The Komfo Anokye Doctors Association (KADA) has suspended the industrial action embarked upon by its members following successful engagements with key stakeholders aimed at resolving concerns that triggered the strike.

In a press release issued on June 9, 2026, KADA announced that the suspension took effect at 6:00 p.m. the same day.

According to the association, the decision followed fruitful discussions and the timely intervention of Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the hospital’s Board, Management, and other stakeholders who demonstrated a commitment to addressing the issues raised by the doctors.

KADA stated that while it remains committed to ensuring that the underlying concerns are fully resolved, it carefully considered the potential impact of a prolonged strike on patient care and public health before deciding to suspend the action.

“The safety and well-being of patients and the broader public interest remain central to our responsibilities,” the association noted, adding that the decision would allow dialogue and negotiations to continue.

The association expressed profound gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Hospital Board, Management, and all stakeholders for their efforts in facilitating discussions and creating a pathway toward an amicable resolution of the outstanding issues.

KADA also acknowledged the support of the National Executive Council (NEC) and membership of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), whose intervention it described as instrumental in resolving the impasse.

Additionally, the association extended appreciation to several professional bodies and labour groups, including the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), the Emergency Medicine Society of Ghana (EmSoG), the Orthopaedic Association of Ghana (OAG), and the Health Services Workers’ Union (HSWU), among others, for their solidarity during the period of industrial action.

The suspension is expected to restore normal medical services at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital while discussions continue to address the doctors’ concerns permanently
