‘SAVE A LIFE CAMPAIGN’:MTN Holds Blood donation exercise in Kumasi

 

 

The leading telecommunication giant in Ghana,MTN has organized a blood donation exercise to collect 4000 points of blood to support the nation’s blood bank.


The Ashanti regional version of the blood donation exercise was conducted at three (3) different locations at the same time;Kumasi Girls Senior School at Abrepo,KSTS at Patasi and Osei Kyreretwie Senior High School at TAFO respectively.


Speaking to the media on the blood donation exercise,Mr Charles Osei Akoto, Northern Business sector head of Technical said MTN has target to collect 4000 blood points across the nationwide exercise as part of ‘Save a life campaign’ as well as to celebrate Chocolate or Valentine’s day.

He said the Company targets to collect 100 blood points from from each of the three(3) Senior High Schools in Kumasi for this year’s exercise.

Mr.Akoto said MTN’s donation exercise was not a new thing because they started it in 2011 but was only suspended in 2021 and 2022 because of COVID I 9 pandemic.

He revealed that,in recognition of the company’s blood donation efforts, MTN was adjudged the highest corporate blood donor in 2013, second highest corporate donor in 2014 and one of the highest corporate donors in 2015 respectfully.

He therefore called on all Ghanaians to embrace regular blood donation exercise to save lives.
Mr.Christian Oppong Mensah, blood program Officer at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) on his part heaped praises on MTN for its annual blood donation exercise.

According to him,the need to ensure that there is always blood at blood bank for most especially accident victims,
pregnant woman among others can’t be overemphasized .
Mr.Oppong Mensah said there is no harm in donating blood and encourages Ghanaians to always donate blood to save lives.
