The Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre South, Damata Ama Appianimaa Salam, has thrown her weight behind Odeneho Kwaku Appiah in the race for Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying she owes her political rise to his mentorship.

Speaking when Appiah, popularly known as COKA, met Bekwai constituency executives during his “Hope Tour” on Saturday (25 July), Salam said the former Afigya Kwabre South constituency chairman identified her potential early and elevated her from party grassroots roles to prominence.

“If I am where I am today, it is because of Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah… He identified my potential and guided me to become who I am today,” Salam told the executives.

She recalled serving as a women organiser and constituency secretary under his leadership, adding that Appiah made her “powerful among the lot.”

Salam described Appiah as a decisive leader who consults widely and works with people with respect.

“This is evidence based,” she said. “He is a decisive leader. He seeks the opinion of others, and he is ready to work with anybody with respect.”

The MP said she is mobilising support for a landslide in the regional election and urged NPP members in Ashanti to vote massively for him.

“I am pushing for 98% votes for him. And so I urge you all to vote massively for COKA to lead the Ashanti NPP,” she added.

COKA served as Afigya Kwabre South constituency chairman before declaring his bid for the Ashanti Regional NPP chairmanship.
