Vote for NPP to continue to transform the nation – Dr. Adutwum urges Ghanaians
Source: tntnewspapergh.com
The Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has urged Ghanaians to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the December 7th election to continue its development initiatives geared towards transforming the nation.
He explained that with the current state of development and initiatives put in place by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government, voting for NPP would ensure continuity and the introduction of many more of such good policies and initiatives that are gradually changing the standard of living of the people.
Dr Adutwum made the call when he spoke at a political forum dubbed “Meeting with the youth of Ablekuma Central Constituency” in the Greater Accra region.
Dr.Osei Yaw Adutwum speaking at the event
The event was organized by the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the area, Mr Jefferson Sackey. It aimed to explain the various interventions he had introduced in the area and what he sought to do when elected as the MP for the area during the December 7 election.
In attendance were some members of the party from all walks of life, constituents and students from selected second-cycle institutions in the area.
Historic caution
Dr Adutwum cautioned Ghanaians not to repeat the mistake it made during the 2008 general election in which it voted the NPP government out then led by President John Agyekum Kufuor’s administration and regretted when NDC reversed all the gains made by President Agyekum Kufuor administration.
The Education Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe described Jefferson Sackey as a visionary and a very young intelligent man who had what it takes to bring transformation to Ablekuma’s central constituency.
Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum, Education Minister interacting with some participants
Positive assurance
Mr Jefferson Sackey in his welcome remarks urged the people of Ablekuma to have faith in him and vote massively for him to represent them in Parliament.
He stated that even though he has not been elected as the MP for the area yet, they should look at the kind of support he had offered the constituents, adding that should they elect him, he would connect to all institutions in government to get them the support they may need.
Mr Lord Commey, Director of Operations at the Office of the President, on his part, added his voice to the call for all Ghanaians to consider voting for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and all NPP candidates to enable them to sustain and continue the ongoing transformation of the nation.
He described the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party as visionless and only thrived on liars and propaganda with the view to winning elections without thinking about the future generation and the country as a whole.
Tension looms in Bawku…as Dr.John Krugu Suspends Campaign ahead of December 7 polls
By:A news desk Report
Dr. John Kingsley Krugu, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Zebilla Constituency and acting Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has suspended his campaign and all-party activities due to the escalating tensions in the Bawku Traditional Area (KTA).
The crisis began with Alhaji Seidu Abagre’s return to Bawku, who was enskinned as a rival Bawku Naba by the Nayiri in February 2023. This move was swiftly condemned by the government as illegal and a threat to national security ¹.
The government recognized Zugraan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II as the legitimate Bawku Naba and directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute anyone claiming the title.
A High Court in Bolgatanga issued an arrest warrant for Abagre, but the Appeals Court in Tamale overturned the decision. The Office of the Attorney General initially filed an appeal but later abandoned it.
Krugu views Abagre’s return as an act of provocation that could reignite the area’s crisis. He emphasized the people of Kusaug’s determination to protect their dignity and cultural heritage. Krugu is calling on the government to:
Issue a statement directing security agencies to arrest and prosecute Abagre if he claims the Bawku Naba title
- Enforce the laws of Ghana and protect the rights of the Kusaug people
- Maintain peace in the region and prevent further violence
Krugu urges the government to take decisive action, warning that he will take further steps to protect life and property in the KTA if necessary. He also calls on the people of Kusaug to remain calm despite the provocations.
Read the full statement below:
For Immediate Release – dated 25th October 2024
Concerning Developments on Bawku Crisis: Suspension of Campaigning
1. Since last night, I have been deeply concerned about recent developments that could
reignite the Bawku crisis and the entire Kusaug Traditional Area (KTA).
- In February last year, the Nayiri purportedly enskinned Alhaji Seidu Abagre as a rival
Bawku Naba.
This act, swiftly condemned by the government as illegible and a threat to
National Security, aggravated the volatile situation in Bawku and its environs. The
government’s immediate and unequivocal response was a testament to its commitment
to maintaining peace in the region, providing a sense of security to the people.
- In a statement condemning the purported enskinment issued on February 15, 2023,
the government re-iterated that the current Bawku Naba, Zugraan Asigri Abugrago
Azoka II, was the duly recognised Chief of Bawku. This recognition, gazetted by both
the Upper East Regional House and the National House of Chiefs, serves as a pillar of
stability in the region, keeping the public well-informed. -
In the same statement, the government directed the security agencies to arrest and
prosecute any other person who claimed to be Bawku Naba, adding that any further
developments that threaten the peace of the area will be swiftly dealt with. -
Subsequently, a High Court in Bolgatanga issued an arrest warrant for Alhaji Seidu
Abagre, who remained in Nalerigu after his purported enskinment, ostensibly to seek
cover under the Nayiri to avoid being arrested. Attempts to affect the Court warrant
were resisted at the palace of the Nayiri. -
Following the government’s decisions, including the issuance of a court arrest
warrant and other concerted efforts by the government and other stakeholders, peace
has gradually returned to the KTA. These efforts, which include the direction to security
agencies to arrest and prosecute any other person who claimed to be Bawku Naba,
demonstrate the government’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace in the area. -
The arrest warrant issued by the High Court in Bolgatanga was challenged at the
Appeals Court in Tamale, but quite curiously, the Office of the Attorney General put in a
written defence. The Court of Appeals recently ruled to overturn the High Court’s
decision. -
The Office of the Attorney General had filed an appeal against the decision of the
Court of Appeal. But in yet another twist, the Office of the Attorney General announced
that it had abandoned its intention to appeal to the decision of the Court of Appeal. -
I have reliable information indicating that Alhaji Seidu Abagre has returned to Bawku.
Tensions are already building up, potentially reigniting the area’s crisis. -
I view these recent series of curious coincidental developments as acts of
provocation that could have severe consequences for the peace of Bawku and the KTA. -
I would like to emphasise that the right to self-determination would not be varied
under any circumstances and that the people of Kusaug are determined to ensure their
dignity and cultural heritage are always protected. -
I am, by this release, calling on the Government to issue a statement directing the
security agencies to arrest and prosecute Alhaji Seidu Abagre should he and his assigns
act or insinuate in any way to suggest that he holds himself out as Bawku Naba. -
Should the government fail to act on time, I will take further appropriate steps to
protect life and property in the KTA. I am calling on the government to give meaning to
its February 15, 2023 statement, when the acts of provocation started, and also ensure
that the laws of Ghana are enforced and complied with by all. -
In the interim, I have suspended my campaign and all-party activities in the Zebilla
Constituency until the government takes decisive action on the ongoing acts and
potential threat to peace and security being instigated and perpetrated by Alhaji Seidu
Abagre and his accomplices. -
While we take steps to demand and ensure respect for the rule of law and the
enforcement of the laws of our country by the government, I call on the good people of
Kusaug to remain calm despite the acts of provocations.
Signed
Dr. John Kingsley Krugu,
Parliamentary Candidate,
Zebilla Constituency
CC:
The Presidential Candidate, NPP
The General Secretary, NPP
The Regional Chairman, NPP
The Constituency Chairman, Zebilla Constituency

Ashanti NPP Organiser condemns series of attacks on NPP members … issues stern warning to NDC ahead of Dec. 7 polls
By tntnewspapergh.com
With barely a few weeks to the December 7 general election, the Ashanti Regional Organiser for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Francis Adomako, has called for the prosecution of Osman Abubakar, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, for his alleged physical attack on his counterpart from the NPP, Abdul Rahman Hudu, on Naagyei FM, a local radio station in the Ejura/Sekyedumase Constituency in the Ashanti Region, in order to serve as a deterrent to others.
According to him, the incident is not the first time in recent times, and such verbal and physical attacks on NPP members by NDC members are aimed at creating confusion ahead of the December polls, for which reason they must be condemned by all stakeholders.
Speaking to “The New Trust” newspaper on Thursday, 24th October 2024, Dr. Adomako, who is well known in the political space as Francois, issued a stern caution to the rank and file of the NDC, especially those in the Ashanti Region, that inasmuch as NPP members are peace-lovers, they wouldn’t sit down unconcerned for NDC members, especially their communicators, to attack them physically in their desperation to create unnecessary tension and confusion in the NPP’s stronghold (Ashanti Region) to put fears in voters.
Dr.Francis Adomako aka Francois
Francois, who doubles as the Dean of all Regional Organisers, called on NPP members, especially their communicators, to be alert to NDC’s evil plans to provoke and physically assault them.
He indicated that because NDC members have nothing new to offer Ghanaians, they have now resorted to propaganda, verbal and physical attacks.
He, therefore, implored the security agencies, particularly the Ghana Police Service and all stakeholders, to talk to NDC members to stop their evil tactics, else they would face them with equal measure.
”We’re confidently convinced that the NPP led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is number one on the ballot, will win the December polls hands down. We don’t want any single soul to get injured and that’s why I’m calling on stakeholders to act on the current happenings to prevent retaliation from NPP members,” he stated.
According to Dailymailgh.com report, the Office of the Attorney General has taken over the prosecution in the case involving Osman Abubakar, an NDC communicator, who allegedly assaulted his NPP counterpart.
The altercation occurred on Friday (18 October), and it was captured on video and widely circulated online, thereby sparking outrage.
Many have condemned the violence and called for justice for Hudu, who serves as the NPP Youth Organizer in the Ejura/Sekyedumase Constituency.
Speaking to Asaase News, Kwa-Sam Samuel, the Deputy Secretary of the NDC in the Ejura/Sekyedumase Constituency, reacted to the incident, acknowledging its seriousness.
“It was an unfortunate incident we witnessed. The NDC leadership in the constituency has taken steps to reach out to the victim. We have also conducted our independent investigations. But since the police have taken over the investigations, we expect them to do a thorough job,” he said.
But the victim, Abdul Rahman Hudu, is seeking justice. He expressed hope that the legal process would bring about a fair resolution to the matter.
“We should have been in court last Monday. However, I have been informed that the docket has been sent to the Attorney General’s Office in Kumasi for prosecution. And so we are waiting for the day and the time the case would be heard. What we are seeking now is justice. The NDC side is inviting people to come in and apologise. But we want this to serve as a deterrent. Ejura needs peace as we prepare for the upcoming elections,” he stated.
Meanwhile, a Municipal Security Council meeting was held on Wednesday (23 October) to address the fallout of the incident. Key stakeholders, including the management of Naagyei FM, participated in the discussions.
The participants are expected to provide further updates following their discussions.
Delayed allowance is still better than having it cancelled-Napo to trainee nurses
Source: Ernest K. Arhinful
Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reassured trainee nurses that the government is working diligently to prevent delays in the payment of their allowances.
While addressing students at the Korle-Bu Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Greater Accra Region, Dr Prempeh highlighted the NPP’s commitment to restoring and maintaining the allowances, which were previously cancelled by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dr Prempeh acknowledged that occasional delays in payments may occur but emphasised that these delays are far better than the complete removal of the allowances, as experienced under the NDC.
“There may be delays, but allowances delayed are better than allowances cancelled,” Dr. Prempeh noted.
He assured the students that the NPP values their contribution to healthcare and is focused on policies that will improve their welfare and professional opportunities.
The students at the institution expressed their understanding of the importance of their votes in the upcoming December 7 elections.
They believed that supporting the NPP and its policies, such as the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme, will have a lasting impact on future generations, including their own younger siblings.
They also voiced support for NPP initiatives like Agenda 111, which aims to build hospitals across the country, offering future employment opportunities for healthcare professionals.
The promise of a stable power supply was another key issue the students highlighted as critical to their support.
