The attitude by Adansi Asokwa Member of Parliament (MP),who doubles as the Minister for Trade and Industry,Mr K.T.Hammond , towards the youth in his constituency will affect NPP chances of securing votes in the upcoming December 7th general election.
This, is because most of the youth, who are into small scale mining activities, are being harassed, arrested by the police under the alleged influence of the MP.
Mr.K.T.Hammond
According to the angry youth, who find themselves in mining activities in communities such as Adansi Aboabo , Atetem , Pipiiso , Bodwesango and others , their MP through his influence as the Minister of state, has been allegedly ordering the police to be harassing them frequently anytime, they embarked on small scale mining activities, which to them is never a Criminal venture or activity.
The spokesperson for the teeming small scale miners in the Adansi Asokwa district, Desmond Kwakye, in an angry mood stated that, the behaviour been adopted by K . T .Hammond, to cripple their small scale mining activities will affect the fortunes of the NPP on December 7th general election, because Adansi Asokwa constituency, has been the political stronghold of the ruling NPP,since the era of the late Prof Albert Adu Boahen till- date, and the party has won the hearts of many in the constituency mainly the small scale miners, who had accepted NPP and no other political party .
The spokesperson, is therefore, sounding a caution to the National leadership of the NPP, as well as the vice President, who is also the Presidential candidate of NPP, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to call Mr.K . T. Hammond to order to desist from influencing and issuing instructions to the police to frequently harass and causing the arrest of small scale miners, who are not criminals.
“We the small scale miners, including our workers, who operates within the Adansi Asokwa constituency are over 6, 000 ,who are all registered voters, who are also influential because we offer support to educational , health and individuals in terms of need and we can convince them not to vote in the upcoming December general election, which could affect the chances of NPP in breaking the 8”,he warned.
On Sunday, September 15th, 2024, the leadership of NPP-USA Washington DC Metro Area Chapter and representatives of NPP-USA Branch led by Chairman Ing. He,also took the opportunity to formally inform the delegation of the choice of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), as the running mate to Dr. Bawumia and the strengths NAPO brings to the ticket.
Chairman Janis, highlighted manifesto policies such as Reviewing Section 63 of the Chieftaincy Act to allow more participation and engagement from our traditional rulers, the commitment of Dr. Bawumia’s incoming government to pay Living Allowances to support our Paramount Chiefs,
Divisional Chiefs and Queen Mothers and also the commitment of the next NPP Government to further strengthen the existing Ghanaian cultural and family values.
On the subject of the ongoing galamsey menace, the NPP delegation appealed to the Chiefs for their support as key stakeholders in helping curb this menace.
The Chiefs, on their part, thanked the NPP-USA Washington DC Metro Chapter for their continued engagement and dialogue with the chiefs and recognizing them as key stakeholders in the nation’s development.
The Chiefs, lauded the NPP manisfesto proposals and noted it was long overdue and a step in the right direction.
They cautioned the NPP delegation to ensure the campaign promise does not end up to be just a vote seeking rhetoric, but “we must see to the implementation of such brilliant ideas”.
The chiefs, also advised the delegation to ensure the NPP communicates the various projects and policies, they have implemented because is upon such achievements that the Ghanaian populace will look to elect a new leader.
Chairman Janis on behalf of the delegation, thanked the traditional rulers and pledged the support of the NPP party in working with the traditional rulers, and also the continous support of the local NPP chapter in working with our traditional leaders.
The Ashanti Regional Organiser for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Francis Adomako, has urged all peace-loving Ghanaians, especially the National Peace Council (NPC), civil society organisations (CSOs), religious leaders, among others, to condemn and call for the arrest of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Tamale South Constituency Chairman, Zaa Nyaya, who has boldly revealed that they (NDC members) have piled up weapons for the 2024 elections.
Dr. Adomako, popularly known as Francois, made the call on Wednesday,18th September,2024, in an interview.
Dr.Francis Adomako aka Francois
According to him, the Ghana Police Service should have invited Zaa Nyaya by now for further investigation. He is also calling on Mr. John Mahama and the NDC to publicly distance themselves from the irresponsible statement made by the Tamale South NDC chairman if they are not involved in the piling up of weapons ahead of the December 7 polls.
He said he was not surprised at the disclosure made by the Tamale South NDC chairman, because the NPP is aware that the NDC, led by its flagbearer and former President of Ghana, John Mahama, is hatching an evil agenda against the Electoral Commission (EC), among others.
Zaa Nyaya, Tamale South NDC chairman
“I’ve already called on Ghanaians, especially first-time voters, to ignore Mr. John Mahama and the NDC because they have nothing new to offer, hence their preaching of violence. I’ve also urged Ghanaians to ignore NDC’s demonstration against the Electoral Commission over a forensic audit on the voters’ register because they (NDC members) have an evil agenda,” he said.
“The Tamale South NDC chairman has just vindicated me,” he added.
According to Dr. Adomako, Zaa Nyaya, in a story published on Tuesday, 17th September 2024, by Ghanaweb.com sourcing mynewsgh.com, is reported to have revealed that the NDC is fully prepared to confront the security agencies and the EC in the December 7 elections.
He claimed that the NDC was equipped with all the necessary tools for the elections, similar to that of the security agencies that would be present on election day.
Former President John Mahama
“…we won’t allow NPP even one minute to rule this country again, so we’re giving the EC the signal that the police cannot protect them and so they should conduct free and fair elections … they have the option to do the right thing, otherwise we’re ready for whatever.
If they want us to fight, we’re ready to fight, I swear God. I told the police Commander that we are prepared for war from today till elections. The weapons they have, I swear, we also have same, so you wait during voting you will see,” Nyaya said.
The Tamale South NDC chairman made this declaration during the NDC’s “Enough is Enough” demonstration in Tamale when hundreds of residents took to the streets to protest against the EC for refusing to allow a forensic audit on the voters’ register.
It is against this backdrop that Dr. Adomako is urging CSOs, religious leaders, among others, to condemn the use of weapons by some NDC members ahead of the December 7 polls in an attempt to scare voters in the strongholds of the NPP.
Mr. Mahama is also expected to publicly distance himself from the statement of the party’s constituency chairman if he (Mahama) and the NDC leadership were not behind the irresponsible statement made by the constituency chairman.
The Founder of United Front Party (UFP), Dr. Nana Agyenim Boateng, popularly known as Gyataba, has officially declared his unflinching support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 Flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), in less than three months to the December general election.
The outspoken UFP founder, who embarked on a vigorous campaign for Mr. John Mahama prior to the 2020 elections, declared that his decision would impact negatively on the support base of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region.
He made the unexpected public declaration on Wednesday, 18th September 2024, at the Centre for National Culture in Kumasi.
Political watchers believe that the decision by Gyataba is likely to impact negatively on the support base of the NDC in the Ashanti Region.
According to him, the chances of the NDC winning the upcoming 2024 general election are dwindling, hence his decision to declare his support for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP.
Some scenes from the meeting
Nana Agyenim Boateng, who for years is known as a darling boy of Mr. Mahama, abrogated his allegiance premised on the fact that the NPP has performed far better than the NDC.
Addressing the media, Gyataba said under the tenure of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Ghana had witnessed more developmental projects and interventions than what the nation saw when John Mahama was president.
Gyataba speaking at the meeting
He told the press that the good works started by President Akufo-Addo must be continued, hence his decision to support Dr. Bawumia, by giving him all the needed political support for the victory of the NPP in the 2024 general election.

Press Statement
Statement Delivered by Nana Agyenim Boateng, Flagbearer of United Front Party (UFP)
Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen and my dear friends from the media.
The United Front Party (UFP) has invited you here to announce a very important decision to you and to start a new conversation on the country’s development.
In this regard we wish to thank you for accepting our invitation and actually making time to attend. We are truly grateful and do appreciate your attendance.
We recall several statements previously made by myself and other members of UFP as well as our previous announcement to contest for the presidency in the December 7 elections.
We have had to reflect quite seriously on our positions and are happy to let you know that the UFP have deeply considered matters of national interests and wish to share with you our findings and, consequently, new directions the party intends embarking upon.
The Leadership of UFP has taken time to study the various manifestos, policy statements,
vision and development agenda of all the major political parties. After weeks of intensive deliberations, we have finally reached a clear conviction that the vision and development plan for this country as have been presented by Dr Bawumia and the NPP are in alignment with ours.
We have also examined Dr Bawumia’s personal values and are now entrenched in our belief that his presidency would yield both economic prosperity and discipline to our dear nation of Ghana.
We have gone round the country and are now witnesses to the massive development of infrastructure and the positive impact on lives as a result of social interventions delivered during the past 8 years of Akufo Addo and Bawumia government. The country would benefit immensely from continuation of these policies and initiatives.
Consequently, we have decided to step down our ambitions and rather focus on assisting Dr Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party to win the next general elections and offer the country the transformational leadership so necessary at this time.
Ladies and Gentlemen and the press we wish to urge all other political persuasions to consider reviewing their agenda and take decisions and actions which will promote peace and orderly development of the country rather than embarking on politically motivated and violent actions and disruptive policies.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TO: ALL MEDIA HOUSES
DATE: 18TH SEPTEMBER, 2024.
THE AFRICAN ELECTORAL INSTITUTE COMMENDS THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC) FOR A PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION ON 17TH SEPTEMBER 2024.
The African Electoral Institute wish to commend the National Democratic Congress ( NDC) for successfully organizing a peaceful demonstration on Tuesday 17TH September 2024 to press home their demand for the Electoral Commission (Ghana) to allow for the 2024 voter register to be subjected to forensic audit.
1, The 1992 constitution allows that citizens who maybe aggrieved of anything or policy which is not popular or at variance with their beliefs and aspirations, to resort or use some tools to put forward their grievances to the relevant authorities for redress. One such tool is demonstration as was done by the NDC instead of resorting to violence or any other means that is unconstitutional.
2, The African Electoral Institute wish to reiterate once again its commitment to good democratic governance in Ghana, and good governance everywhere can be possible if the process or processes leading to change in governments or endorsing sitting governments via elections are NOT made laborious.
This the African Electoral Institute believes is achievable with free, fair, transparent, and accountable elections, which start with having a healthy, robust, and acceptable voters register to all political stakeholders.
3, The African Electoral Institute believes that having the voters register subjected to forensic audit is NOT going to be injurious to the Electoral Commission but rather enhance its credibility and commitment to organizing a free and fair elections which will honour the EC and the country as a whole. AEI therefore urges the EC to take a second look at their stance.
4, The African Electoral Institute was equally happy to hear both the Minority and Majority leaders of Parliament expressing their willingness for Parliament to be reconvened to look into this issue when the NDC presented a copy of their petition to them, to come up with a workable solution that will put this impasse to an end to the satisfaction of all parties . This is in line with our call on the Parliament of Ghana through a press release and a letter dated 16th September, 2024, to take up this matter.
5, In view of the foregoing, the African Electoral Institute wish to remind the Electoral Commission of Ghana and all political stakeholders that they owe the people of Ghana nothing but peace and should do everything possible in their power to make sure this country remains intact as one unit before, during and after the elections come 7th December 2024, anything short of this will be unacceptable and they shall be held responsible by Ghanaians.

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has reiterated the party’s call for a credible voters’ register ahead of the December 7 elections. He firmly stated that the only way to achieve this is through a forensic audit conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Speaking to supporters at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, Asiedu Nketiah encouraged them to stay committed to their demand for electoral transparency, stressing the importance of their ongoing nationwide protests across all 16 regions of Ghana.
Johnson Aseidu Nketia,NDC National Chairman
“Our demand is simple,” he explained. “We want the EC to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election, and a credible register is central to that goal.”
These demonstrations by the NDC are aimed at pushing the EC to address concerns about the fairness and integrity of the electoral process.
“We want nothing but transparent elections that will guarantee our right to choose our leaders,” Asiedu Nketiah declared. “Without the right of self-determination, democracy is as good as gone, and every democracy faces challenges at some point. Right now, Ghana’s democracy is under serious threat, but we will prevail.”
He added, “We shall overcome because every democracy has the risk of producing a tyrant, but our ability to fight that tyrant and restore democracy is paramount. Elections alone do not guarantee democracy; it is the democratic-minded citizens ready to fight for it who truly safeguard democracy.”Source:Dailymailgh.com
