By: Isaac Amoah/tntnewspapergh.com
The Vice-President of Ghana and Flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated his promise to implement a flat rate tax policy and flat rate import duties in cedi if given the mandate to become the next President of Ghana.
According to him, if he wins the December 7 presidential election, he will grant individuals and companies tax amnesty to ensure smooth implementation of the flat rate tax system…

Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia
“I’m committed to implementing flat rate tax system and flat rate import duties system. I also intend to move Ghana from a cash-based economy to a credit-based economy,” he emphasised.
He explained that this would be based on a credit-scoring system Ghana is about to implement.

He noted that the credit-scoring system was not working because of lack of a reliable data but, fortunately, as a result of the implementation of the Ghana card system, in the next couple of months, the implementation of individuals credit score system would commence.

The flagbearer of the governing NPP announced these during his separate engagements with nananom, the clergy, Muslim leaders and professional associations in the Ashanti Region.
He said in sub-Saharan Africa, it is only South Africa that is implementing a credit-scoring system.

He stressed that he was going to focus more on digitalization in the following areas: land registration system, modernization of agriculture to empower farmers and create jobs, regulation of illegal mining, enhancing a private sector driven economy to help reduce government expenditure by three per cent, fighting against corruption through digitalisation, training of one million people in digitalisation, among other policies.
Dr. Bawumia said he would also focus more on rail transportation due to its economic importance.
With regard to the educational sector, the NPP flagbearer said no country could develop without investment in education, hence the decision of the Akufo-Addo administration to implement the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

He revealed that before NPP took over power in 2016, the school enrolment at the SHS level stood at 800,000 and as of the end of 2023, the number had increased to 1.4 million.
Apart from that, the government has invested about 6 billion cedis in TVET education, STEM programmes, among other interventions.

He said when given the nod as President, he would build upon the solid foundation that had been laid.
According to him, the results of WAEC and the enrolment of girls have been very encouraging.
Dr. Bawumia announced that before the end of this year, E-gate would be implemented at airports.
He continued, “I believe that in my position as a vice-president, we have done a lot. We (NPP) have outperformed the NDC government. In fact, NDC is not even our standard but the developed countries.”
He said to help reduce the cost of energy, he had decided to implement
solar power generation…to reduce the cost of energy consumption.
In conclusion, Dr. Bawumia urged Ghanaians to have confidence in him and vote massively for him in the December 7 general election.
“I’m contesting to be the next president of Ghana and
most people say I have been an impactful vice-president, so once I have passed vice-president class, promote me to become the next President of Ghana!
“I have the commitment to fight corruption. I have presented a compelling vision to implement to ensure accelerated development…I will be more accountable as a president so that I can come back to you for a second term in office.
My main opponent is looking for four years and he says he will go for a honeymoon and after that you’ll not see him again to make any account,” he said.
“The world is going to a digital age; I’m the best person to take Ghana to the promised land,” he added.
Ahead of 2024 Polls:Kumasi welcomes Napo with Veep chants

Dr.Mathew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, the Energy Minister, was welcomed by residents of Kumasi with “our incoming Vice President chants” on Monday.
Napo, who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, has been heavily tipped by political experts to partner Dr. Bawumia for the December polls.
Majority of NPP members, especially leading members of the party, have also thrown their support for Napo to partner Dr. Bawumia to snatch a resounding victory.
Kennedy Agyapong, who contested for the NPP flagbearer position and lost, has stated that he would only campaign for the party if Napo is made Dr. Bawumia’s running mate.
On Monday, Napo accompanied Dr. Bawumia to Kumasi for a three-day campaign tour in the Ashanti Region and wherever they visited Napo was given a rousing welcome.
“Napo is our incoming vice president, Napo is our incoming vice president” was heard all over the places Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team visited in the boisterous city.
Interestingly, Napo has not commented about the possibility of him being picked as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate so far even though the topic is all over in the media.
Sources from Napo’s camp have said the Energy Minister’s main ambition is to help Dr. Bawumia to lead the NPP to retain power and lead Ghana to the Promised Land.
Napo, clearly, is the best performing minister in the President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration, having performed exceptionally well in two crucial ministries.
For instance, Napo worked assiduously to introduce the NPP government’s flagship programme, the free Senior High School (SHS) policy few months in government.
The Manhyia South Lawmaker, who is very intelligent and hard working, has also lived up to expectations by stabilizing power supply as the Energy Minister, so far.
Prophet Predicts Victory for NPP’s Dr. Bawumia in upcoming General Election
Source: tntnewspapergh.com
As the political climate heats up in Ghana ahead of the forthcoming general elections, a bold prediction has emerged from Prophet Frederick Nsiah Appiah of Graceland Power Ministry, located at Asokore Mampong in the Ashanti Region.
According to the prophet, a divine revelation has made it clear that Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, is destined to win the election.
Prophet Nsiah Appiah
Prophet Nsiah Appiah shared that this revelation came to him through a series of dreams, each affirming the same outcome.
Despite multiple prayers and spiritual inquiries, the message remained consistent: Dr. Bawumia is the chosen one to lead Ghana.
The prophet insists that his prediction is not influenced by any desire for favor or monetary gain from the NPP but is a true reflection of the divine message he received.
In his statement, Prophet Nsiah Appiah advised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, John Dramani Mahama, to reconsider his campaign efforts.
He expressed certainty that Mahama’s efforts would be in vain as the divine revelation assured Bawumia’s victory.
However, he emphasized that this prophecy should not lead to complacency on the part of Dr. Bawumia and his supporters.
He cautioned that while the presidency is destined for Bawumia, it requires diligent effort and reliance on God to manifest fully.
Prophet Nsiah Appiah’s prophecy has undoubtedly stirred the political waters, as such declarations often do.
He acknowledged potential backlash from the public and political opponents but remained steadfast in his belief.
He emphasized his conviction in the prophecy, stating that he is merely a messenger of what the Lord has revealed to him.
Moreover, the prophet made it clear that he does not seek any direct interaction or acknowledgment from Dr. Bawumia.
Instead, he urged the candidate to focus on his faith and work towards the prophesied victory with diligence and integrity.
Prophet Nsiah Appiah reiterated that his sole purpose is to convey the divine message, leaving the rest in the hands of the NPP candidate and his faith in God.
This revelation by Prophet Nsiah Appiah adds a spiritual dimension to the political contest, reflecting the deeply rooted religious beliefs that often intersect with Ghanaian politics.
Whether or not his prophecy will come to pass remains to be seen, but it has undoubtedly contributed to the fervor and anticipation surrounding the upcoming elections.
As Ghanaians prepare to head to the polls, the words of Prophet Nsiah Appiah serve as a reminder of the diverse factors, both seen and unseen, that influence the political landscape.
The country watches with bated breath to see if this divine prediction will unfold as a foretold.

NUGS ADVOCATES FOR ON-CAMPUS VOTE TRANSFER CENTERS TO EMPOWER STUDENT VOTERS.
Accra, Ghana – Monday, June 10, 2024.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, fellow students, and all Ghanaians,
Good morning and thank you for joining us today. I stand before you as the President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), representing the voices and interests of students across our great nation. Today, we gather to address a matter of profound importance to our democratic process and the rights of students: the establishment of Vote Transfer Centers in tertiary institutions.
Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel,
President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) and other Executives
A few days ago, NUGS petitioned the Electoral Commission of Ghana, urging them to consider our request to set up voter registration centers on university campuses.
This petition is a call for action to ensure that the rights of students to participate in the democratic process are not hindered by logistical and financial challenges. Allow me to elaborate on the critical points we presented in our petition.
Our request stems from a genuine concern for the thousands of students who, while pursuing their educational goals, may find themselves unable to vote in their designated constituencies.
This situation is due to the simple fact that many students study far from their hometowns and places of residence. It is imperative that these students, who are contributing to the development of our nation through their education, are not neglected in a major decision-making exercise that shapes the future of Ghana.
As part of our oversight function, NUGS has identified several key difficulties faced by students regarding voter registration:
1. Distance to Registration Centers: Many educational institutions are located far from the designated voter registration centers. This makes it difficult for students to travel and register
- Financial Constraints: The cost of traveling to these centers can be prohibitive for many students, who already face financial pressures related to their education.
- Examination Schedules: Students often find themselves unable to engage in voter registration due to conflicting examination dates and academic commitments.
- Systemic Pressure: The current voter registration system places undue pressure on students, who must balance their educational demands with the need to register to vote.
Our petition is firmly rooted in the legal and constitutional framework of Ghana. We draw attention to Section 12 (1) of the Electoral Commission Act, which mandates the Commission to make regulations for the registration of voters, including provisions for voting by proxy and the issue of identity cards.
Furthermore,
Article 42 of the 1992 Constitution guarantees every citizen of Ghana, aged eighteen and above, the right to vote. Article 45 and Article 46 of the Constitution empower the Electoral Commission to make regulations for the transfer of votes, ensuring that no citizen is disenfranchised.
In light of these challenges and legal provisions, we earnestly appeal to the Electoral Commission to establish voter registration centers on university campuses. This action will protect the guaranteed right to vote for students and ensure their active participation in the democratic process
By setting up these centers, the Electoral Commission will not only ease the logistical and financial burdens on students but also uphold the principles of inclusivity and fairness that underpin our democracy.
NUGS is committed to advocating for the rights and welfare of students. We believe that every student should have the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right to vote without undue hardship. This initiative is crucial to ensuring that students are not disenfranchised and can contribute to the decision-making process that will shape the future of our nation.
In closing, we call on the Electoral Commission to exercise its powers to the fullest and take the necessary steps to establish voter registration centers in tertiary institutions. We believe that this proactive measure will greatly benefit our students and, by extension, our entire nation.
Thank you for your attention and support. Together, let us work towards a more inclusive and participatory
democratic process for all Ghanaians
Aluta Continua! Victorial Ascerta!

2024 POLLS: Ghanaians don’t trust Mahama because he failed as President – Miracles Aboagye
The Communications Officer of the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has stated that the 2024 general elections will be based on trust, which the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama lacks.
Mr. Aboagye says the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is the ideal candidate to turn around Ghana’s economic fortunes and not Mahama, who he said was a failure as president.
Mahatma and Bawumia
Speaking in an interview with Selorm Adonoo on ChannelOne TV‘s current affairs programme, The Big Issue, the former Akuapem North MCE said that there is nothing new that John Dramani Mahama will do for Ghana upon his return as president.
He said the former president would be appraised based on things he did during his tenure as president, which he said were failures and hardships unleashed on the people of Ghana.
“It is not that John Mahama is coming to build a new Ghana. He has been president before and a lot of people will be in for a shock come December 7 and we have been on the ground and we are listening to the sentiments of the people and we are going to work with that.”
“We are going to appraise Mahama based on what he was able to do as president and he is going to be held accountable.
Bawumia has not been president before and we are going to look at the two of them, who we can trust to take us into the future, I do not doubt that the people of Ghana have no trust in John Mahama because of the way he handled and led us when we had difficulties.”
