Mrs Victoria Nyarko Owusu-Achiaw, the incumbent Ashanti Regional 2nd vice chairperson, who is currently vying for the regional women’s organiser position, has expressed confidence of winning the race.

According to her, the party needs a grassroots person who’s very connected to them, coupled with the humility to be down to everyone’s level and a result-orientated person.

“I am the grassroots person who has been with them as the 2nd regional chairperson, and some taught I should have contested for a higher position, but I decided to come down for the women’s organiser position to help mobilise a vibrant women’s wing to maximise votes for the party’s victory.

Speaking to journalists at Hasta Lodge in Kumasi after successfully going through a vetting process, she said she is number one on the ballot after the balloting process.

Mrs Owusu-Achiaw said her vision focuses on mobilising grassroots support, promoting the party’s achievements and new policies and maintaining party unity in the Ashanti Region.

According to her, to ensure effective grassroots mobilisation, she intends to hold a series of trainings for polling station women’s organisers and the women’s wing to effectively communicate NPP policies and social interventions as well as the new policies of the flagbearer ahead of the 2028 polls.

She therefore stressed the need for the rank and file of the party to put everything behind them and come together. We need a strong and united party to win 2028 polls to continue implementation of good social interventions started by the Nana Akufo-Addo administration.

The Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser hopeful also hinted at advocating reduction of internal wrangling, “politics of insults”, and hate speech to ensure stability among them. She also condemned harsh sentences handed down to Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Wontumi, in relation to the galamsey issue.

Mrs Owusu-Achiaw, while appealing to Ghanaians, especially the party members, to remember him in prayers, said the treatment of Chairman Wontumi should encourage them to work extra hard to ensure the NPP recaptures power.
