Layer Justin Kodua Frimpong (JFK) has officially commenced his campaign for re-election as General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with a resounding show of unity and overwhelming endorsements across the Savannah Region, reinforcing growing confidence in his leadership ahead of the Party’s internal elections.
The General Secretary arrived in the Savannah Region with a high-powered delegation comprising Hon. Mohammed Nurudeen, Member of Parliament for Nalerigu-Gambaga; Alhaji Haruna Mohammed, Deputy General Secretary of the NPP; Hon. Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey, former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central; Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim, former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Joseph Kwayaja Nganiba, Deputy National Organizerand Hajia Rabi Salifu, Deputy Director of Communications of the NPP.

Upon arrival, the General Secretary and his entourage were accorded a rousing welcome by the Savannah Regional Executive Committee, led by the Regional Chairman, Chairman Kalamonia, together with the entire regional leadership. In a remarkable demonstration of solidarity, the regional executives accompanied the delegation throughout the regional tour, reaffirming their confidence in Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong’s leadership and vision for the Party.
The campaign tour began in Salaga North and Salaga South, where constituency chairmen, constituency executives, newly elected officers, appointed executives and enthusiastic party members turned out in large numbers to receive the General Secretary. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as supporters warmly welcomed the man many grassroots members affectionately refer to as “Okumkom”—the Hunger Killer—a nickname they say reflects his commitment to strengthening the Party’s structures and ensuring that the welfare of the grassroots remains a priority.
At every stop, Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong shared his vision for the future of the New Patriotic Party, centred on four defining pillars: Prepared, Well-Positioned, Focused, and Rebuild. He called on members to preserve the Party’s unity, strengthen its organisational structures, and work collectively to position the NPP for a convincing return to power in the 2028 general elections.
Reflecting on his stewardship, Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong acknowledged that his first term as General Secretary had been defined by significant challenges, yet also by resilience, stability, and purposeful reforms.
“As a relatively young General Secretary, I have navigated one of the most turbulent periods in our Party’s history. Despite the challenges, including serving for four years without a substantive National Chairman, I remained steadfast in keeping our Party united, functional, and focused on its collective purpose.”
He highlighted several landmark reforms undertaken during his tenure, noting that his administration deliberately strengthened the Party’s institutional foundations rather than pursuing short-term political gains.
Among the key achievements he outlined were the expansion of the Party’s electoral college to include former executives and appointed officers, a reform designed to recognise the invaluable contributions of those who have sacrificed for the Party over the years while broadening participation in its internal democratic processes.
Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong also underscored the comprehensive strengthening of the NPP’s communications architecture, from the polling station level to the national secretariat, through the creation of more coordinated communication structures, enhanced capacity-building initiatives, and the empowerment of communicators to effectively promote and defend the Party’s ideals.
He further cited the establishment of the Patriotic Institute as one of the defining legacies of his administration. The Institute, he explained, is aimed at systematically training the next generation of Party leaders and officers, deepening their understanding of the NPP’s ideology, values, and traditions, while equipping them with the leadership skills required to sustain the Party’s long-term growth and electoral success.
“These reforms were not undertaken for today alone,” he stated. “They were designed to build a stronger, more inclusive, better organised, and election-ready New Patriotic Party capable of returning to government in 2028 and beyond.”
The Savannah Regional campaign reached its climax at Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, where constituency executives from Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Damongo, and other constituencies across the region unanimously endorsed Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong for a second term as General Secretary. The executives praised his steady leadership during one of the Party’s most challenging periods, highlighting the far-reaching organisational reforms, constitutional amendments, grassroots engagement, and institutional innovations implemented under his stewardship.
They expressed a unanimous conviction that continuity in the Office of the General Secretary is essential to consolidating these gains and completing the task of rebuilding the Party into a stronger, more united, and election-ready political organisation capable of reclaiming power in 2028.
Responding to the overwhelming endorsements, Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong expressed profound appreciation to the regional and constituency executives for their confidence in his leadership.
