By Kofi Owusu

The Paramount Chief of the Prang Traditional Area in the Pru West District of the Bono East Region, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, has said he will forever be grateful to the Akufo-Addo administration for transforming the socio-economic condition of the people in the area.

According to him, the district has had its fair share of the national cake, and he believes the people will transfer the gesture into votes in the upcoming general election.

Nana Nyarko made these comments in an interview on Friday, 21st June 2024.

The chief said some people often misquote him and associate him with the ruling New Patriotic Party. He denied it, saying it is not factual.

He explained that, as a visionary chief, he needs to always commend any government that brings progress and development to his people, so as to encourage that government to do more for them.

The Pranghene, a former Council of State member during former President Jerry John Rawlings’s administration, further explained that he was ready to praise any other government in future that would also bring similar developmental projects to his area for the betterment of his people.

However, he said, as a respected chief, he does not dabble in partisan politics.

Nana Nyarko recounted how Prang was neglected in terms of progress and development but, fortunately, his people had now witnessed massive development in the areas of education, health infrastructure, roads, water expansion, among other social interventions.

He disclosed that his predecessor, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko II, prior to his demise, advised him to always have a positive mindset, be accommodative, be willing to always forgive others, be neutral, fair and above all be God-fearing to make the Prang paramountcy an enviable one.

Regarding the reshaping of the Prang town and the Agenda 111 hospital project of which Pru West is a beneficiary, the chief said he would organise a durbar and lead his people to thank the government for improving the state of Prang.

Concerning the Bono East Regional feeder roads office located at Prang which had already been commissioned but the staff had not reported yet, he said he had reliably been informed that water was being connected to the area to address the challenge.

Nana Nyarko, therefore, entreated his people to continue to rally behind him in the interest of development.
