Mr Michael Awuku Amoah, the former Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and an aspirant for the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party secretary position, has stated that leadership is not about occupying an office; it is about accepting responsibility, inspiring confidence, and delivering results that stand the test of time.
According to him, the future of other NPPs in the Ashanti Region deserves experience, commitment, and a leader who is ready to serve from day one.He is therefore urging the kingmakers of the party (delegates) to vote for Hon. Michael Amoah Awuku. Vote No. 3 come Saturday, 15th July, 2026.
The former Atwima Nwabiagya South MCE, who has served the party on various portfolios, said his chances of winning the regional secretary post are very high. I’m going to be a servant leader and help restore the party’s unity and discipline to help attract more members.
In an interview after picking number three on the ballot, Mr Awuku Amoah believes that Ashanti NPP must come back and regain its strength; that is what he stands for.

I think that discipline must come back where each party member will respect each other devoid of insults and abusive language. I’m therefore urging the delegates to have confidence in me. I have worked with five MPs, and they all attest to my good human working relationship.”
Mr Awuku said his decision to seek the office was driven by what he described as a genuine fear that the party could spend a prolonged period in opposition if members failed to learn from past mistakes.
According to him, his biggest motivation was the fear that the NPP was likely going to stay in opposition for more years if things were not done the right way and needed leaders selected to steer the affairs of the party.
Mr Amoah Awuku appealed to delegates to entrust him with the mandate to serve as Ashanti Regional Secretary, promising to work tirelessly to rebuild the party and reclaim its electoral fortunes.According to him, the NPP must undertake serious introspection and address the issues that have weakened its image among the Ghanaian electorate.
He noted that the increasing tendency of party members to attack one another publicly has created a negative perception about the party and undermined its credibility.“The harsh way we sometimes speak to one another as a political party is not helping us.
If things are not done right, we will stay in opposition for a long time,” he stressed.Mr Amoah Awaku said, having served as MCE under an NPP government, he owed a duty to give back to the party that provided him the opportunity to serve.

The aspiring regional secretary said his immediate priority would be to help restore the NPP’s political dominance in the Ashanti Region, regarded as the party’s electoral stronghold.
He indicated that rebuilding the party would require unity, effective organisation, discipline, and stronger collaboration among executives, constituency officers and the rank-and-file.
Mr. Awuku maintained that discipline must once again become the hallmark of the NPP, arguing that many Ghanaians had become unhappy with some conduct exhibited by sections of the party in recent times.
He pledged to ensure leadership, renewed grassroots mobilisation, and a united front. The NPP would reposition itself as a formidable political force capable of returning to power in the next general election.
