Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, an aspirant for the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has committed himself to mobilising votes to help the NPP recapture all lost seats in the region ahead of the 2028 general election.

He said some of the seats they can’t win back. Work hard to maximise votes in those seats to depreciate the NDC strength in the Ashanti Region.

Dr Kokofu, who served as former Bantama Chairman and Member of Parliament (MP), made the declaration on Tuesday, 21st July, 2026, after he was cleared by the party’s vetting committee.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman hopeful, who was also the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), therefore, appealed to the delegates of the party to give him the nod to lead them to bring back the lost seats and votes in the party’s political world.

Dr Kokofu, who’s a legal practitioner, noted that one of the major cankers worrying the NPP is disunity. He therefore called on the rank and file of the party to unite before, during and after the internal contest.

He described himself as the best candidate who comes with integrity, experience, humility and the ability to command the respect of party members as well as the general public.

Arguing that “You don’t put just anybody there. You need somebody who has integrity, experience, maturity, honesty, humility, ideas and commands the respect of the people,” added.

According to him, if he becomes the next chairman, he would convene a regional conference bringing together experts, elders, members and sympathisers to discuss strategies for strengthening the NPP in its electoral stronghold.

He said the conference would focus on promoting party unity, constructing a new regional office, youth development, financial sustainability and strengthening the party’s communication and security structures.

This, he explained, forms part of his strategies to improve the resolution of internal disputes, saying the party would engage professional negotiators and mediators where necessary to settle conflicts.“So that would not be a difficult thing to do,” he said.

Besides, Dr Henryn Kwabena Kokofu promised to take a more robust approach in defending the party’s leadership against political attacks.

He also sent a strong caution to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) that henceforth they (NPP) will not allow anyone any more to disgrace and insult Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, their flagbearer. Saying, “We will defend when necessary and attack when necessary,” he stated.
