POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED DRUG PEDDLERS & RECOVER LARGE QUANTITIES OF NARCOTIC SUBSTANCES IN KUMASI OPERATIONS

 

The Ghana Police Service, through the Inspector-General of Police (I.G.P.) Special Operations Team (SOT), in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Police Command, has arrested several suspected drug peddlers and recovered substantial quantities of suspected narcotic substances during intelligence-led operations conducted across selected locations within the Kumasi Metropolis

.The operations targeted locations identified through intelligence gathering as centres for the distribution and sale of narcotic substances.

One of the major operations, conducted at Asawase, led to the arrest of Kwame Afriyie alias “Con Papa”, also known as “American Man”, aged 61, believed to be a notorious drug peddler.

The suspects

A search conducted in his room and provision shop resulted in the recovery of thirty-three (33) and forty-eight (48) parcels respectively of compressed substances suspected to be cannabis.A subsequent operation at Asafo, Kumasi, led to the arrest of Kofi Acheampong alias “Mokobiley”. A search of his room revealed three hundred and eleven (311) transparent rubber sachets containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances, thirteen (13) compressed parcels of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances, ten (10) brown paper wraps containing black rock-like substances suspected to be narcotics, as well as quantities of restricted pharmaceutical products

.In a related operation at Krofrom, one Michael Owusu Agyeman, 22, a National Service personnel, was arrested with fifteen (15) bottles of fruit juice suspected to have been laced with cannabis.

 

 

Further operations conducted at Atonsu-Bokuro, Krofrom, Kenyase, Asokwa, Buokrom and Asafo BB led to the arrest of other suspected drug peddlers, namely Adamu Ibrahim, 44; Stanley Boahene, 24; Favour Emmanuel, 23; Abubakar Sadick, 28; Adwoa Serwaa Boamah, 36; Paul Quagraine, 40; Nana Kwasi Amo Peprah, 47; Hamdiyah Ibrahim, 37; Nicholas Adorku, 39; and Natson Yaaba, 31.Website-www.police.gov.ghEmail-padphotopol@gmail.com,hq.pro@police.gov.ghFacebookGhPoliceServiceYouTube- ghanapolicetudeTwitter@GhPoliceServiceWhatsapp Videos Only-0206639121Emergency- 191, 18555 (MTN &vodafone)Tel:0302-773906,Post Office Box GP 116,Accra17. 8. 9. Exhibits recovered during the operations included compressed parcels of suspected cannabis, tramadol, ecstasy tablets, amphetamine tablets, suspected cocaine and other suspected controlled substances.

All exhibits have been secured for forensic examination, while investigations continue to identify and apprehend other persons connected to the illicit drug trade.All suspects have since been arraigned before court and remanded into Police custody to reappear on later dates.10.

The Ghana Police Service reiterates its unwavering commitment to combating the trafficking, peddling, and abuse of narcotic drugs and urges the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by providing credible informationdrug-related activities.11

The Command commends the I.G.P.
