- A combined team of officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate Headquarters, the Anti-Robbery Unit, CID Headquarters, the Ashanti South, and the Ashanti Regional Police Commands has arrested two
suspects in connection with the robbery attack on Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso (KDS) road in the
Nyinahin District on Sunday, 12 April 2026, led to the death of Dominic Frimpong, a player of Berekum Chelsea FC.


2. Following the incident, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) deployed a team of intelligence officers to
support the Regional Command on a manhunt for the perpetrators. On 15/04/2026, an intelligence-led
operation conducted by the team at Atimatim, Kumasi, led to the arrest of suspect Mohammed Ahmed
alias “I Can do”, the gang leader, and suspect Bawa Gideon, after the suspects attempted to flee and fired at Police.
3. Exhibits retrieved include a pistol with two rounds of .32 ammunition, eleven BB cartridges, a “blantine”, pepper spray, desert boots, assorted mobile phones, and a black pullover.

During interrogation, suspect Mohammed Ahmed admitted involvement in several robberies, including the Nkawie robbery, the Fufuso mobile vendor attack, and the attack on the Berekum Chelsea FC. He further mentioned accomplices identified as Dauda, Huefe, and A.T., who are currently on the run.

Suspect Mohammed Ahmed alias “I can do” is receiving treatment under Police guard at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital while Bawa Gideon remains in custody, assisting the investigation.


- The suspects Dauda, Huefe, and A.T. have been declared wanted, and the Police are appealing to the public for information leading to their arrest.
- The Police Command commends the officers and men involved in the operation for their relentless efforts and professionalism in apprehending the suspects. The Command also thanks the public and community members for their cooperation and support, which contributed significantly to this breakthrough.
- While efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the gang, the suspects will be put before the court to face the full rigours of the law.
