According to him, whenever a chief decides to show his political support or affiliation to a particular political party, there is a tendency that his neutrality in dispersing fair judgement will be compromised, and that can’t ensure justice and peaceful coexistence.

“It’s therefore my humble plea to our respected chiefs to remain neutral as far as partisan politics is concerned.Hon. Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah made the appeal in an interview with journalists after the parliamentary select committee members for chieftaincy, culture and religious affairs paid a courtesy call on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, 13th May, 2026.

The vice chairman said it was a great honour for him to join the Parliamentary Committee on Chieftaincy, Culture, and Religious Affairs for a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

According to Hon. Dapaah, the Asantehene’s message was clear: “To foster development, we must resource the National House of Chiefs and lead with truth to resolve disputes.

It is a privilege to learn from his wisdom and celebrate his 27th anniversary on the Golden Stool,” he added.

The Ahafo Ano South West MP said the committee is mandated to promote religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence of all religious beliefs.

He emphasised that to ensure fair justice and peace, “it is not best for any chief to show his political party affiliation.
It is, therefore, a high time our chief comes together and promotes unity and development devoid of partisan politics. Our chiefs must stay neutral so as to disperse justice fairly for all manner of people in the society.

Stressing that “Any time any chief decides to show support for one political party, the tendency for such a chief to show bias in his judgement is high, and that does not ensure peace.

We therefore plead with our reverend chiefs to stay neutral at all times.”
