Story by: Poasan Bernice Abanga(GIJ)

Residents and commuters of Doryumu road,  in Shai Osudorku municipal in Greater Accra are appealing to the government to fix their road which is in a deplorable state.

The people said, since good roads are a prerequisite for development, their town has barely enjoyed any facelift over the years.

They said, their businesses, and many other areas are being negatively affected as well as causing health problems including chest pain infections during the dry season when the road becomes dusty. Doryumu is about an hour and thirty-minute drive from Accra.

A difficult journey into the community starts at Doryumu junction from the main road. The road is bump, muddy and dusty during the rain and dry season respectively.

It is difficult for vehicle whenever drivers meeting in opposite direction pass each other. One has to slow down and allowed the other to pass in  avoiding accidents on that stretch of road.

The deplorable  state of the road.

Due to this, getting a vehicle to connect to nearby communities is difficult. Historically as the residents said,Doryumu has existed for centuries therefore deserve to have better roads.

Doryumu is blessed with many natural resources and residents believe, a good road network will open up their town to investors which will in turn create jobs for them.

They are therefore calling on the government  to place high priority on their road and deliver on their  promise to fix their roads. They said life must be made easier within that enclave.
