Napo donates food items to Kumasi Children’s Home & 2 other rehabilitation centres

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the 2024 running mate to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who doubles as the former energy minister, has donated food items to three care-giving homes in Kumasi,the Ashanti Regional capital.

The beneficiaries’ institutions of the donation include Kumasi Children’s Home, Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, and Cheshire Rehabilitation Centre.

The items donated comprise bags of rice, maize, canned fish, tomato paste, and cooking oil among essentials.

The former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, who is popularly known as Napo in the political space, on Friday, 21st August, 2026, honoured his quarterly donation of food items to the caregiving homes, as he has been doing for about 20 years now.

Speaking shortly to journalists after the donation, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh said he believed in the biblical principle of giving to the needed, and that has been his motivation for frequent donations to the needed in society.

Adding that he has been donating to these three institutions for the last 20 years. “I donate to them during Easter, then in August, and climax it with a donation during the Christmas festivities.

According to him, there is a need for all members of society to try and support and share the little they have with the needy in society since there are blessings attached for such gestures.

Napo also spent time interacting with the children, inmates, and personnel at the various centres

He encouraged the centre’s administrators to maintain close supervision over the residents at all times.

Dr Opoku-Prempeh commended their commitment to social care and urged them to persist in their efforts to successfully reintegrate recovered individuals back into society

.On behalf of the beneficiaries’ institutions, Mr Obeng Manu, Administrative Manager at the Cheshire Rehabilitation Home, expressed their profound gratitude for the quarterly support from Napo

.According to him, Dr Mathew Opoku-Prempeh has been a very good and reliable donor to them and has also maintained a consistent four-month donation cycle to the home for several years now. ”

Mr Manu said, ‘We are deeply encouraged by Dr Napo’s continuous generosity toward our home and others,'” Mr Manu told reporters.

“We hope his actions inspire other public figures and philanthropists to step forward and assist in sustaining these essential care facilities.”

According to Napo, supporting vulnerable or the needed populations in society provides him with a strong sense of personal fulfilment and aligns with his Christian faith.
