Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has set the record straight on the funding of the Hajj Village, stating unequivocally that the facility is being constructed solely by the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), without any financial contributions from taxpayers. This clarification was shared on X, reiterating the government’s stance on the project and dispelling rumors that public funds were being utilized for its construction.

President John Dramani Mahama officially broke ground for the construction of the new Hajj Village on February 28, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development.

The facility is specifically designed to support Ghanaian Muslims embarking on the sacred pilgrimage to Mecca.

Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that “The Hajj Village is primarily an Airport Terminal Building for check-in and pilgrim facilitation owned and being built by the Ghana Airport Company. Not a pesewa of taxpayers’ money involved.” This statement reaffirms the government’s position on the project’s funding, providing clarity and transparency on the matter.

The construction of the Hajj Village aims to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and provide a smoother departure experience for pilgrims.
