Nana Kwadwo Mensah, the family head of the Kobrease family of Aprade in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has once again made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians across the country, especially those in the Aprade community, to help the family trace the whereabouts of the heir to the Kobrease stool, Akosua Konadu, who has gone missing for several months.
According to Nana Mensah, all efforts by the family to trace Akosua Konadu after she had rejected her role as the heir to the Kobrease stool, citing her religious beliefs and running away, have yielded no positive result.

Akosua Konadu
Speaking to this paper over the weekend, the head of the family announced a handsome reward for anyone with relevant information that could lead to the tracing or the whereabouts of Akosua Konadu, the legitimate heir to the Kobrease stool.
“We’ve decided to announce a handsome reward this time round to motivate Aprade community members as well as all citizens of Ghana to help us find Akosua Konadu. As it is now, the entire Kobrease family of Aprade can’t have a sound sleep without knowing the whereabouts of Akosua Konadu,” he said.

According to him, they have not abandoned their efforts in searching for Akosua Konadu.
Nana Mensah recalled that in 2024, their search for the heir to the Kobrease family stool, who had gone into hiding got the attention of “The Spectator” newspaper in its Saturday, 6th July 2024, edition.

Akosua Konadu
He, therefore, clarified that the right spelling of the family is Kobrease, not Koprease , as it was mistakenly captured by “The Spectator”.
He emphasised that the narration about the events leading to the missing of Akosua Konadu who has still not been found as published in “The Spectator” is true.
“That is the main reason why the family has decided to announce a handsome reward for anyone with relevant information regarding the whereabouts of Akosua Konadu,” Nana Mensah added.
“The Spectator” story headlined “Heir to Kobrease stool rejects role over religious beliefs – Now missing ” is reproduced below:
The Kobrease family of the Aprede community in the Ejisu Municipality in the Ashanti Region, Ghana, has been entangled in a longstanding
chieftaincy dispute following the death of the late Nana Ama Serwaa in 1984.
After her passing, the family nominated young Akosua Konadu as the rightful heir to the stool. However, due to her age and ongoing education at the time, the family head, Nana Kwadwo Mensah, along with the elders, entrusted the stool temporarily to Pinanko, with the understanding that it would be handed over to Akosua Konadu once she came of age.
Contrary to this agreement, Pinanko refused to relinquish the stool when Akosua Konadu became eligible. After 41 years of unresolved disagreement, the matter was brought before His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in 2024.
Asantehene ruled in favour of the Kobrease family, custodians of the Kobri deity—an ancestral symbol linked to the royal house of Nana Osei Tutu II
Following the ruling, the family reaffirmed Akosua Konadu’s position as the rightful heir. However, she rejected the role, citing her Christian beliefs and objecting to traditional practices such as the pouring of libation and recognition of the deity.
The family, however, dismissed her reasons and insisted that she fulfil her traditional obligations as
queenmother. In the wake of this pressure, Akosua Konadu has gone into hiding and is reportedly on the run.
Her whereabouts are currently unknown, and efforts by the family to locate her have proven unsuccessful.
The Kobrease stool remains vacant as the family grapples with the impasse between tradition and personal conviction.
