The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has banned all prospective candidates from engaging in campaign activities before the official announcement of the upcoming internal election process.
The party emphasised that members should refrain from campaigning or soliciting support for internal positions, as these directives form part of the strategies to foster unity among members.
This directive was outlined in a statement issued by the General Secretary of the party, Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, who emphasised that it aligned with the party’s commitment to fairness in managing its internal electoral processes.

“The party leadership wishes to notify all members and prospective candidates at various levels that, until official nominations are opened, no individual is allowed to engage with party executives or structures in any form of campaigning or soliciting support for internal positions,” the statement read.
It further noted that early engagements could undermine the authority of the party’s organs and jeopardise the strategic efforts underway to position the party for success in the 2028 general elections.
The statement urged all members, supporters, and stakeholders to adhere to this directive and avoid activities that could compromise the party’s unity or the integrity of its processes.
“Let us remain focused and supportive of the internal reforms and initiatives led by our leadership to build a more formidable and cohesive party,” it continued.
The statement reaffirmed the party’s commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, fairness, and due process and promised to provide timely updates on all relevant timelines and guidelines once nominations are officially opened.
