The Ashanti regional Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Andrews Nana Akwasi has predicted that he will pull a big surprise to retain his seat in the forthcoming regional delegates’ elections.
According to him, his enviable track record is there for everyone to see and that is why the NDC delegates who always reward hard work will vote massively for him to continue his good work.
He said the current regional executives did well to appreciate votes in the region and won back New Edubiase seat NDC lost to NPP in the 2016 elections.
Aside that, they have also made NDC in Ashanti region very attractive.”I always involved stakeholders such as Council of elders,former MMDCEs,Ashanti caucus and former executives under my leadership in our work”.
Nana Akwasi who doubles as a former vice chairman said he has gone through the mill in his political career from ward executive through to Ejisu Parliamentary candidate for the party in 2016 polls and currently regional chairman.”If you check from the records my performance has always be ascending not descending as compared to those who want to contest me”.
Speaking exclusively with The New Trust Newspaper on Wednesday,28th September,2022,Nana Akwasi said he was not and will not be detracted by attempts by some people within the Party to paint him black as part of their strategies to deceive the delegates. He described himself as gold and the more people strike or hit him, the more he becomes brighter gold.
He lamented that it was very sad that most politicians in Ghana instead of coming out with better and convincing messages to win votes they want to ride on falsehood to spoil or destroy someone in attempt to in votes.
He therefore advised all potential candidates from the constituency level through to national level to tell the delegates what they are capable of doing should they be given the nod instead of falsehood.”NDC is very determined to win the 2024 general elections and we don’t want anyone to create division or cracks in the party because after the internal polls we will need everyone on board to win 2024 elections.
Let’s all do clean campaign devoid of insults, tribal politics and all acts that have potency to breed division. This is NDC family elections and everyone who feels qualified is allow to do so irrespective of one’s ethnic or religious background.
The Ashanti NDC chairman who has been accused for allegedly pocketing polling station agents’ money with some regional executives shoots down his opponents and propagandists attempt to smear his hard won reputation with palpable allegations.
He explained that 2020 general elections way first time under his leadership when the polling agents of the party were paid immediately their pink sheets were submitted to them.”You can check from the national headquarters and you realized that Ashanti region has about 99.9 % of our pink sheets available from all the 47 constituencies in the region.
According Nana Akwasi,they had two(2) agents each for the 6,700 polling stations and he had to personally paid additional Ghc 52,000 to enable settled all agents from the funds received since they recorded a short of that money.
”If it is not mischief and shame why is it that almost 2 years now after 2020 polls, no agent has ever complained from all the 47 constituencies in the region and someone is using it for campaign. If I have pocketed polling agents’ money why are they not complaining after 2020 general elections till date?
He therefore entreated all his teaming supporters and well-wishers to disregard the propaganda and falsehood against him.
Nana Akwasi who congratulated newly elected ward/branch executives also wishes all constituency executives good luck in their contest.
”My appeal to all delegates is that whenever any candidate comes to you with any allegation against his or her opponent demand evidence from them to ensure decorum in the process”
