Story by:A political desk report

The former Ashanti regional Deputy Minister who doubles as a former deputy Minister for Works &Housing under NDC administration , Hon.Samuel Yaw Adusei has confirmed his intention to contest as the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He has therefore cautioned the delegates of the Party not to make any mistake to renew the mandate of incumbent National Chairman,Hon.Samuel Ofosu Ampofo nor vote for the incumbent General Secretary ,Hon.Johnson Aseidu Nketia who has also declared his intention for the national Chairmanship race.

According to him,NDC cannot afford to lose 2024 general elections to rescue Ghanaians from the current economic hardship under Nana Addo led administration. That is why he has decided to offer himself to contest for the National chairman of the Party to help lead the party to victory in 2024.

He said under the leadership of the two party gurus, they failed to deliver victory for the Party in spite of the unique position of NDC in 2016 and 2020 general elections.
And what has motivated him to offer himself for the National Chairmanship position is the communication by the incumbent General Secretary of the Party,Hon.Johnson ASEIDU Nketia who has declared his intention to contest the incumbent National chairman, Hon.Samuel OFOSU Ampofo.

He said apart from the two key personalities failing to deliver power to NDC in both 2016 and 2020 polls they have proven to the delegates of the party that they can’t trust each other hence there is the new for a new face to lead NDC as national chairman.
Addressing the media in Ashanti region in Kumasi about his intention, the former Bantama NDC parliamentary candidate said Hon.Aseidu Nketia has served as General Secretary for about 17 years and has known and worked with the incumbent National chairman who is seeking re-election.
He said Aseidu Nketia had worked with OFOSU Ampofo who had served as National Organizer,Vice chairman, Elections Director and currently National chairman yet, he says Incumbent Natioanl doesn’t deserve a second term.

In the same vein,Hon.Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has also known and worked with Hon.Aseidu Nketia for all this years and he also says the incumbent General Secretary doesn’t deserve to be elected as National chairman.
“The two leading members are simply telling us (NDC) that there is the need for a new dimension to help bring everyone on board to work hard for victory.
I’m saying that if NDC wants to win 2024 polls, let’s reject both Hon.Ampofo and Aseidu Nketia to block NPP breaking the 8.
“NDC must win power to save Ghanaians from the economic hardship under Nana Akufo-Addo.I need power in 2024 because I’m fed-up with excuses and old stories we had been told in the previous elections instead of ensuring that our delegates are vigilant at all polling centres”.

The NDC national chairman hopeful also stressed on the need for the delegates of the party to elect competent, committed and selfless executives.
According to him, even though, Nana Addo led administration has failed and brought untold hardship on Ghanaians but they can’t put their hope only on that to win power in 2024.

“I wants all NDC members to shun complacent ahead of 2024 polls . let’s all work hard to ensure a resounding victory.

He also used the media engagement to enumerates his plans to re-energize NDC to ensure victory in the forthcoming general elections. He blamed the national chairman and General secretary for not also initiating consensus building for all to rely behind Ex-president John Mahama to complete his second term.

“I’m not calling for imposition of Ex-president Mahama on the delegates and the Party but what I’m saying that a consensus building should have been done by the leadership of the Party to let others with Presidential ambition to understand why they should all come together and support former President Mahama to complete his second term but they leadership of the party failed on that also.
The former Bantama NDC Parliamentary candidate who was also a member of the Party’s communication team says he has gone through the mile in terms of internal elections.

He said former President John Mahama’s role needs to be clearly identified and recognize as only living former vice and former President.
